If we still have to wait for The Winds of the Winter, George Martin will be returning to bookstores in the coming weeks The Rise of the Dragona new illustrated volume dedicated to the Targaryen family.
With a post on social media, the father of game of Thrones announced that this volume will be available in about a month but can already be pre-ordered online: “The Rise of the Dragon is one month away, which delves into the history of the Targaryen dynasty”.
Just to explain the differences between this book and Fire & Blood Martin said, “For those of you wondering, what’s the difference between The Rise of the Dragon and Fire & Blood? Think of The Rise of the Dragon as a deluxe reference book where the family brings Westeros – and their dragons – more notorious – to life in collaboration with some truly amazing artists. “
And as House of the Dragon prepares for a time warp, the author added: “Fire & Blood is the recorded account of the events of Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros through to the infamous Dance of the Dragons, the civil war that he nearly ended Targaryen rule. The Rise of the Dragon will cover the same period, but it is written in a more encyclopedic style, similar to The World of Ice and Fire. In fact, Elio M. García, Jr. and Linda Antonsson, the authors of The World of Ice and Fire, are back to help with this book.
