HAVANA, 15th August (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz (pictured right) arrived this Monday afternoon in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, where he will attend the first regional meeting of the heads of government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), which will start tomorrow.

The meeting comes ahead of the next United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 7-18.

COP27 looks at progress in implementing the Paris Agreement and has been held in Glasgow since COP26 at the end of 2021.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has 197 signatory states and is the precursor to the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement.

The main goal of the Paris Agreement is to keep the rise in global average temperature to less than 2°C above pre-industrial levels this century and encourage further efforts to further limit it to 1.5°C. (Source: Cubadebate)
