Originally from Montreal’s south coast, Mélanie Dubuc, 32, who was the subject of an arrest warrant, was arrested early Monday morning in Saint-Honoré in the Saguenay region.

She appeared at the Chicoutimi courthouse to face charges of first degree murder, theft and fraud.

According to our information, the three charges relate to the same case.

Found a week after his death

The body of the victim, Sylvie Lemay, 57, was discovered at her home on March 16, 2021. “The suspect was found near the victim, who had been dead for almost a week,” reports the Sûreté du Québec.

The police-issued arrest warrant, of which Le Journal obtained a copy, says Ms Lemay died “on or about March 9, 2021”.

Along with Le Journal, the victim’s sister, Danielle Lemay reiterates that this result is a “relief” for the family, who have been hit hard by these “tragic circumstances”. “It couldn’t go on without being punished,” she says. Ms Lemay declined to comment further about the upcoming trial.

Remember that the death of Sylvie Lemay, who lived in Saint-Honoré, had not been made public at the time.
