University student Gabriella Soares, 21, won Miss Brasília 2022 on Thursday evening (5/26). The law student represented Lago Sul, beating ten other candidates to take the crown in a ceremony at the Caesb Theater in Águas Claras. As her successor, the dancer Ludmyla Monteiro, who tested positive for Covid19, the young woman crowned the current Miss Brasil Mundo, also from Brasilia, Caroline Teixeira.

Gabi is now the new representative of the federal capital at Miss Brasil Mundo, the next edition of which will be held in Brasília in early August for the second consecutive year. If she wins the national, the new miss has a chance to compete for the country’s place in Miss World (or Miss World), which is considered one of the 5 most important competitions in the world along with Miss Universe, Miss Supranational and Miss Grand International and Miss International.

The representatives of Taguatinga, Nina Assis, and Lago Norte, Terezinha de Oliveira, came in second and third respectively. Misses Sudoeste, Marina Netto (fourth place) and Areal, Lorrane Duarte (fifth place) also completed the top five of the contest.

Over the past few weeks, the eleven missing have taken part in a series of pretests and accumulated qualifying points. Between a casual fashion show, bathing suits and evening wear, or sports and talent competitions, the misses also had to face an interview that was evaluated by a specialist jury.

However, the greatest challenge was to present and defend a social project supported or developed by each of them in their communities in the federal district. The proposal lends the contest the slogan “Beauty for Good,” which seeks to break with the paradigm that beauty pageants are irrelevant and empty.
