The Germans advise showering less in order to use less petrol

In view of the foreseeable restrictions on the supply of Russian gas, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck, called on his compatriots to shower less often per week in order to save energy resources when heating water.

Most households in Germany have gas heating and consequently gas water heaters, a hydrocarbon that is mainly imported from Russia. Berlin is currently considering the possibility of sanctioning Russian gas in order to reduce its dependence on energy supplies from Moscow, for which Germans may be forced to reduce their consumption.

The politician also pointed out that Germany has gas reserves that can be used in case Russia cuts off supplies to the country or if the European Union decides to impose new sanctions on the Kremlin. Habeck warned that these savings would only last until the fall.

Despite growing concerns about energy shortages, Bild emphasized that by showering less, Germans can not only conserve natural resources, but also take care of their skin.

The medium, citing a dermatologist, explains that if you haven’t bathed for a long time, the bacteria themselves start eating the acids that give off the bad smell. This will start the “self-cleaning” process, where you can simply pour water over the body without using the soap. If this method doesn’t seem very pleasant, only the feet, armpits, buttocks and groins can be soaped, the newspaper advises.

In the midst of the energy crisis that the European country is going through, Habeck has repeatedly spoken out in favor of saving energy, be it by drawing the curtains in the apartments at night, by traveling by bike or train instead of driving a car, or by “controlling” the bathing process. For his part, Federal Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir urged his fellow citizens to consume less meat, which he said “would be a contribution against it [Vladímir] Putin”.
