The foreign minister will speak on behalf of Venezuela at the Celac summit

In his Twitter account, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy assured that in the face of attacks from the fascist right, we will do our best to take care of our main body of integration.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of People’s Power announced earlier that Gil will lead the Bolivarian Republic’s delegation to Celac’s summit meeting, after learning of plans for aggression against the delegation led by President Nicolás Maduro.

The text denounces that in the last few hours they have been informed of a plan being drawn up within the neo-fascist right, the aim of which is to carry out a series of attacks against our delegation, led by the head of state.

He stated that they intend to put on a “regrettable show” to disrupt the positive impact of such an important regional event, thereby contributing to the already unsuccessful discrediting campaign launched against our country by the North American empire.

Faced with this scenario of extravagant plans by right-wing extremists who have alienated themselves from interests outside our region, and in order to contribute to the smooth development and successful conclusion of the summit, “we made the responsible decision” to send the Chancellor as head of the delegation , he added.

As a founding state, we are at the forefront to ensure the success of our main mechanism of union and regional integration for the benefit of our peoples, the State Department said.

The note emphasized that Gil will raise the voice of the Venezuelan people before the highest authority of Celac and conduct the necessary interactions that will take place between the 33 delegations at all levels present at this meeting.

The Bolivarian Government thanked Argentine President Alberto Fernández for his warm invitation and for his firm stance in ensuring the success of this major high-level meeting.

He also reaffirmed before the member countries of CELAC and before our peoples the unwavering commitment to promote unity and integration as the fundamental path to independence and development of our region.

President Nicolás Maduro yesterday reiterated that Venezuela is ready to support the initiative to create a Latin American and Caribbean currency on the proposal of his colleagues from Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and from Argentina, Alberto Fernández.

In a joint radio and television broadcast from the city’s balcony at Miraflores Palace, the seat of government, the President sent a salute of unification and liberation to the peoples who will be meeting in Argentina.

“Independence, unification and liberation of Latin America and the Caribbean,” Maduro noted.
