Rio A flight from Rio to São Paulo was canceled this Tuesday morning (17th) at Santos Dumont Airport in downtown Rio due to the presence of a swarm of bees on one of the wings of a Latam airliner. The reason for the accumulation of insects on the plane is still unknown.

According to the company responsible, flight LA3901 would depart Santos Dumont at 10:30 am for Congonhas Airport in São Paulo. However, it was canceled due to “the need for unscheduled corrective maintenance on the aircraft caused by the swarm”.

According to Latam, passengers have also been accommodated on other company flights, which are scheduled to take off this Tuesday. The airline regretted the inconvenience caused to passengers but reiterated that all decisions were aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety.

When contacted, Infraero ensured all procedures were in place to isolate the area and ensure the safe disembarkation of passengers and crew. “The incident did not affect airport operations and did not cause flight delays,” the note concluded.
