The drakkar gradually overthrows the huskies

BAIE-COMEAU | The Baie-Comeau Drakkar signed a second straight win at home on Sunday afternoon as they narrowly won 3-2 in a shootout against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Louis-Charles Plourde and Justin Poirier found another perfect shot in the top corner in regulation time for the Drakkar. Jakub Hujer and Louis-Philippe Fontaine responded.

After scoring another penalty in extra time, the hosts finally came out on top in the penalty shoot-out. The only goalscorer in that shooting streak, defender Niks Fenenko, outplayed the heroes with the decisive goal.

The number 21 shone late in the game, as did his goalkeeper Olivier Ciarlo, who proved tenacious by stopping the five shooters he faced during the penalty shootout.

“The end result was positive but the motto that came back to the dressing room was a team win to which everyone contributed. It was a close game, like you play in the playoffs,” commented pilot Jean-François Grégoire.

After about fifty minutes without too much fuss, the meet became livelier and the three physical altercations on the ice spiced up the show.

indiscipline

The locals, victims of seven offenses, conceded two short-handed goals and almost burned themselves a couple of times.

“Overall, I liked our 60-minute five-a-side performance. The penalties broke our rhythm but the lads stuck together and did a good job,” added Grégoire, highlighting the brilliance of defenders Marc-Antoine Mercier and Émile Chouinard.

The Drakkar will once again take the road towards the old capital. He will visit the Remparts on Wednesday.
