GREAT STORY – Debates on the “polycrises” threatening the planet, discreet business and diplomatic meetings, immersion in the Swiss broadcaster and its annual forum of the powerful of this world.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has just spoken, on the big screen in the plenary hall of the Davos Congress Center. In the front row sits the wife of Ukrainian President Olena, a powerful ambassador for her Russian-occupied country. Polish President Andrzej Duda has just called for Ukraine to join NATO alongside Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

The atmosphere at this round table is heavy with the war raging 950 kilometers east of the Swiss station. When the participants leave the room, the contrast is striking. A South African reception with local gastronomy and a concert by the vocal trio The Soil awaits you in the adjoining hall. “There were no Africans in the Chamber,” observes Jeroo, an Indian married to a Dutchman.
