This abandoned Boeing 737 is a bizarre mystery that remains planted in the middle of a field in Bali, Indonesia, and to this day no one knows how it ended up there. The aircraft is based in a limestone quarry off the Raya Nusa Dua Selatan Highway, just a short drive from popular Pandawa Beach.
As is often the case with the bizarre and inexplicable, many theories abound as to how the plane got there. Most popular among locals is that the Boeing was originally installed by a wealthy businessman. According to legend, he wanted to turn it into a restaurant, but before he was done, he ran out of money and just left the plane in the field.

However, this theory was never confirmed by the authorities.
The defunct plane has piqued the interest of many city explorers over the years, hoping to experience something different on their travels. Unfortunately, it is fenced in and can only be seen from one vantage point.

Interestingly, however, another Boeing 737 is stranded in Bali available for tours. The vehicle is located next to a Dunkin’ Donuts store and has been said to have been there since 2007, with rumors that it is already becoming a restaurant. This second desert plane was used as an event venue in 2018 and now remains a fascinating element for visitors.
For those interested in visiting the first Boeing (which no one knows how it got there), Atlas Obscura’s Tony Dunnell offered directions, saying it was “easy to get to” as long as you ” recognizable from the street”. He explained that the plane’s view is obscured by the highway, so you need to keep your eyes peeled or you could easily miss it.
