The Block’s Tom and Sarah-Jane have revealed how they intend to set the all-important auction order for Sunday’s season finale.

The pair earned the Domain Super Power – which allows them to choose the order in which houses go under the hammer – after scoring the most points from room reveals that season.

Tom and Sarah-Jane told 9Entertainment they will make their decision based on reserve prices and advice from their real estate agent.

“At the end of the day it’s a game and we have to take care of ourselves, so just before the auction we see what our agents recommend and just do it like that,” said Tom.

“There are 20 different ways to do it and there is no right or wrong way.

“It just comes down to hopefully putting yourself in the best possible position and hopefully fighting a few people over your house, so that’s all you can do.”

As well as being able to choose the auction order, Domain Super Power means that Tom and Sarah-Jane will also feature their home on the cover of Domain Magazine.

Nicola Powell, senior research analyst at Domain, previously said that if a team wants to play the game strategically, they should auction their property first, as it’s an effective way to guarantee a sale.

In 2020, Jimmy and Tam Wilkins also won the series after auctioning their property in second place and raking in a profit of $966,000.

In accordance with the show’s longstanding rules, the team with the largest profit above the reserve price on auction day will receive an additional $100,000 in prize money.

Some real estate experts have expressed concern that this year’s properties will not sell within their price guidelines of $4 million to $4.4 million.

This is because the average house price in the Gisborne area is about $1.1 million.
