The Block: Ankur and Sharon DENY for seeking help to win $50,000 in prizes

The Block DENY’s Ankur and Sharon, they sought help to win $50,000 in prizes – only to be left red-faced by Scott Cam

Sharon and Ankur from the block refused to admit they won $50,000 in prizes in a winemaking challenge with Google on Tuesday.

The pair were quizzed by Scott Cam and Shelley Craft on Wednesday after they managed to recreate a nearly identical wine blend.

Shelley asked the couple if they “knew how to do it,” but Ankur stuck to his story about the couple’s extraordinary noses when it comes to wine.

‘No. So basically we drank a lot of it during Covid, it’s one of my favorite wines,” Ankur said coyly.

“Shazza’s father is a winemaker and makes his own wine,” he added.

Sharon nodded in agreement with Ankur and complimented her skills.

The pair managed to recreate the “Samantha’s Paddock” mix in just 10 minutes, leaving competing teams accusing them of using Google.

The team that took second place were Dylan and Jenny, who took nearly two hours to blend a nearly correct blend of the wine.

Ankur went on to say that as soon as he heard “Samantha’s Paddock,” he knew the pair would win big during the challenge.

“It was just luck. Nice days,’ he added.

Scotty and Shelley made their minds clear after speaking with the couple.

“I’m fine with you looking up the recipe, but why don’t you own it?” said Scott.

“You know how I feel when people lie to me. Right in the face,’ he added.

Sharon and Ankur later became red-faced after Scotty held another wine challenge and put Ankur’s sommelier skills to the test.

Scott asked teams to guess whether a series of mystery wines came from “Australia or France,” with the winner receiving $1,000.

An obviously nervous Ankur, to the shock of the group, couldn’t tell the difference between rosé and pinot.

“I knew it was a pinot, but I said it was a rosé because I had a VB at Tommy’s house before I arrived,” Ankur explained. “My palette was smashed,” he added.

Dylan won the challenge and took home $1000 in prize money.
