ST. PETERSBURG, June 15 (Xinhua) — The 25th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum kicked off in Russia’s second-largest city on Wednesday.

This year’s forum, themed “New Opportunities in a New World,” will be attended by representatives from more than 90 countries and regions, the forum organizer said.

The participants will discuss topics related to the global and Russian economy, digitization and computer security.

During his speech at the forum’s plenary session on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will assess the current global situation and outline the future direction of Russia’s economic development, Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said on Monday.

Since 1997, the forum has grown into a leading global platform for the business community to discuss critical economic issues facing Russia, emerging economies and the wider world.
