Cuba. The beach sector near the Hotel Meliá Internacional Varadero is considered the best in Latin America ( Brazil) according to the selection coordinated by the International Center for Training in Beach Management and Certification (CIFPLAYAS) based in Panama and the Federal University of Rio Grande.
To create the list, managers and scientists considered a conceptual-methodological framework in which each beach was analyzed along four dimensions: protection, conservation, recreation and health.
According to these parameters – broken down by carefully evaluated indicators – the beach has been positioned as the best in Latin America, alongside Meliá Internacional Varadero, with a score of 98 out of 100. Aspects such as safety, scenic value, water quality and sand, shoreline stability and low episodic pollution were at their maximum in this case. The area is featured in the CIFPLAYAS study, available on the web at https://www.cifplayas.org, as “spectacular and vast, with white sand and transparent blue water, emblematic of its tourism exploitation and high level of integrated management” described. and recommended by Juan Alfredo Cabrera Hernández, PhD in Geographical Sciences and Full Professor of the COSTATENAS Observatory at the University of Matanzas (Cuba).
