Shortly after being pronounced dead following an autopsy, an American woman suddenly woke up in a body bag.
It’s quite a special incident that employees at a funeral home in Iowa, USA, just experienced.
On the morning of January 3, 2023, while handling the body of an apparently deceased woman, the embalmers discovered that the deceased was still alive.
This is how this woman, who was pronounced dead at the age of 66, woke up in her body bag where she would have stayed for 40 minutes.
The salon immediately called the emergency services, who were able to determine that the body was alive and well.
“Around 8:26 a.m., funeral home staff opened the bag and found the resident’s chest was moving and she was gasping for air,” an official report said.
Transported first to the hospital and then to a specialized facility, the sixty-year-old, who suffered from early dementia, finally died two days later surrounded by her family.
When she was first pronounced dead at her home, the person examining her had not found her pulse.
“She thought the resident was dead and notified the nurse,” the report said.
The nurse then noticed that there were no breathing sounds or abdominal movements.
