A man has been arrested for attempted murder after he was caught on video violently stabbing a gas station worker who confronted him about shoplifting.
Billy Joe Martin, 39, was arrested in Miami on Monday for the horrific attack on a Mobil gas station employee, which took place when the suspect was caught stealing a beer.
Martin turned violent when the unidentified employee watched the suspect put the can in his pocket before asking, “What did you put in your pocket?” according to WSVN.
Footage showed Martin behind the checkout counter attacking the clerk while thrusting the knife directly at him.

The altercation occurred when the clerk confronted Martin about theft
The clerk can be seen in the footage trying to fend off Martin as the suspect also grabbed a pack of cigarettes in the fight.
After a few seconds, the clerk was able to slide Martin out from behind the counter and lock the shop door, keeping him inside until police arrived.
Meanwhile, the clerk locked himself securely behind the checkout area.
When police arrived, Martin was handcuffed and taken to a squad car, where he repeatedly banged his head on the Plexiglas before spitting at an officer and shouting racial slurs, according to the news outlet.
Martin, who is from Arizona, was arrested for attempted murder, robbery, burglary causing assault and assaulting a police officer.

The seller was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition for treatment of his wounds.
He sustained injuries to his upper body and face.
