The 2024 Impreza makes its Subaru debut

The Japanese manufacturer Subaru presents an important novelty at the Montreal Auto Show. Visitors can approach the new Impreza 2024.

Externally slightly modernized, the emblematic compact car of the Subaru range returns only in the hatchback version. In fact, the sedan has said goodbye and will not return to Canada.

Mechanically, the base 2.0-liter engine is carried over and still develops the same power (152 hp). It is now accompanied by a second mechanism. It’s a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 30 extra horsepower. This block will be installed in the two top models: the Sport-Tech version as well as the RS version, which will make a definite comeback in 2024. The latter, with a sporty connotation, is characterized by special 18-inch alloy wheels, imitation carbon fiber inserts, aluminum pedals, a black headliner and red stitching distributed throughout the cabin.

Once behind the wheel, occupants can benefit from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity, as well as an induction charger that comes standard. The multimedia system interface can be displayed on a screen diagonal of up to 11.2 inches. In terms of active safety, the most exclusive models receive the Eyesight system, Subaru’s most advanced. The latter includes a feature that monitors the driver’s alertness in real time. This technology, which is already offered in other vehicles in the range, is being used for the first time in the Impreza.

The electric Solterra also on the saloon

The Solterra is Subaru’s first 100 percent electric vehicle. A close relative of the Toyota bZ4X, this is the second close collaboration between the two manufacturers as the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86 are also technically very similar.

Unlike the bZ4X, which can be specified with front-wheel drive, all Solterras come with all-wheel drive, a technical choice dear to Subaru. Thanks to two motors (one per axle), combined power increases to 251 hp and torque to 246 lb-ft. The battery used has a capacity of 71.4 kWh, which corresponds to a range of 360 kilometers.
