The 10 fastest growing jobs in the US right now – many paying over $100,000 a year

The job landscape has been in constant flux over the past three years as some industries still struggle to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and companies brace for a possible recession in 2023.

Some jobs have become more popular as a result of the pandemic and the resulting wave of layoffs and hiring across the country. According to the latest job projections from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 8.4 million new jobs are expected to be created in the US by 2031, with nearly a third of the jobs being in healthcare and social welfare.

Advanced Practice Provider, Employee Experience Manager and Truck Driver are among the most in-demand jobs in the US, according to a new LinkedIn report. On Wednesday, LinkedIn released its annual Jobs on the Rise list, which highlights the 25 fastest growing occupations over the past five years based on the job titles that saw the greatest growth on its site between January 2018 and July 2022.

Twenty-two of the 25 positions on the LinkedIn list offer remote or hybrid job opportunities, suggesting employers continue to heed workers’ demands for flexible work to attract and retain talent in a tight labor market.

Here are the top 10 fastest growing jobs in 2023, according to LinkedIn; You can read the full list of top 25 jobs here.

Despite – or because of – the challenges of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, tech, healthcare, marketing and sales have seen “hundreds to thousands of new hires over the past five years,” according to LinkedIn.

However, that list doesn’t take into account the recent spate of job cuts in the tech sector — just this week Microsoft and Amazon announced plans to lay off thousands of employees.

“Companies are now on the reverse side of the pandemic in a rebalancing phase where they are focused on how to retain employees and grow revenue lest a recession ruin their business,” Andrew Seaman, senior editor for jobs and career development at LinkedIn says. “For example: truck drivers play a key role in helping businesses deal with supply chain issues that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.”
