Tennis: There will be four Canadians in Miami

Canada’s Katherine Sebov secured her ticket to the main draw at the Miami tournament on Monday.

She also won her second qualifier. She defeated Briton Jodie Burrage in three sets 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-3. The clash lasted two hours and 29 minutes.

This is the first-ever time for the 24-year-old Torontonian to reach the main draw at a WTA 1000 caliber event outside of Canada. In Miami, she joins her compatriots Leylah Annie Fernandez, Bianca Andreescu and Rebecca Marino.

It is currently unknown who will face Sebov in the first round of the Florida event. However, there is a chance she could face Fernandez. Already in the first round, the Quebecer is guaranteed to have a player from the qualification as an opponent.

For his part, Andreescu has a date with the British Emma Raducanu. Marino meets Kazakh Yulia Putinseva.
