France is finally equipped with a sovereign collaboration suite for communities, discover the Hexagone project. – The community gazette

Hexagon: the alliance of 7 French companies

Under the determined leadership of the state, a collaborative office suite in the cloud, proudly French, is entering the commercialization phase. This application addresses the challenge posed by the hegemony of American solutions in this area and aims to offer all local authorities a sovereign and secure alternative.

This suite is operated by publisher Interstis (clickable link to HP), leader of the Hexagon consortium made up of seven French digital companies, including six SMEs.

The aim of this consortium is to operate an alternative office and collaboration suite to Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace by positioning itself on clear strengths: simplicity and accessibility, data sovereignty and security, technological robustness and digital sobriety.

This consortium is characterized by its territorial coverage. Far from the Parisian centralism of certain large digital projects, Hexagone is present in six regions with its seven member companies, thus guaranteeing proximity to regional stakeholders.

A collaborative suite made in France

The offer should be simple and readable. 100% SaaS, allows a community to subscribe to the suite in whole or in part through four modules: office automation and collaborative work, messaging and diary, instant communication, security and IT and application management.

The Burgundian publisher Interstis, cornerstone of the Hexagone project, offers the building block “Office automation and collaborative work” around the work areas and functionalities that have made its platform successful: electronic document management, instant messaging, shared calendar, directory, project and task management and Workflow. The office tools (document, spreadsheet, presentation) developed by the Ile-de-France publisher Xwiki are natively integrated into this module.

The Toulouse-based company BlueMind brings its technology and expertise to the “messaging and diary” component. Its unique technology, compatible with Outlook, makes it possible to secure the company’s email without changing user habits.

The Grenoble SME Belledonne Communications, publisher of the Linphone application used by hundreds of thousands of users around the world, provides the technological basis for the “Instant Communication” module (videoconferencing and softphony).

The Nantes company Tranquil-IT provides its technology for managing and securing IT assets (hardware and applications) and forms the fourth module of Hexagone’s offering.

Dassault System, through its subsidiary 3DS Outscale, plays an essential role in providing all modules with French hosting, referred to as SecNumCloud by ANSSI, to ensure the highest levels of security and availability in the cloud.

Finally, a zero trust version of the suite will be announced by 2025. It is intended for projects and services that have to deal with particularly sensitive data and is based on the technology of the Bordeaux startup PARSEC.

Sovereignty and security are priorities

This consortium is characterized by its consistent commitment to sovereign digital technology. This bold and realistic initiative offers a third option for municipalities looking to equip their agents with modern office automation and collaboration solutions. Previously positioned between Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, communities now have a confident alternative that combines the simplicity of a 100% SaaS offering with data security guarantees.

At the heart of this new proposal is a strong commitment to sovereignty: data hosted in France on infrastructures called SecNumCloud and technologies developed and operated by French SMEs, the technology leaders in their field.

Reduce the social and environmental impact of digital technology

On the agent side, the Hexagone offering aims to stand out for its user-friendliness through a significant amount of effort on the user journey within the four modules of the offering. Particular attention was paid to issues of the digital divide, with the stated aim of the suite meeting the accessibility standards of the RGAA Reference System.

Finally, as a leader, Interstis has made strong commitments to responsible digital technology. In particular, it is about allowing each user to know the environmental impacts associated with their use and providing them with good practices that they can follow to limit them.

The Hexagone office and collaboration suite is already in use by several pilot customers and will initially be marketed by Interstis in a preview to municipalities from October 2023 and to other private and public players from mid-2024.

1699251162 Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 review our full review

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 review: our full review – Frandroid

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 reviewThe Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 speaker // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

After the small Luna speaker, Harman Kardon offers a new Bluetooth speaker with a neat aesthetic. The less adventurous Go + Play 3 is more intended for transport from the living room to the kitchen or patio than served on the sand at the beach. Its strengths lie in a three-way stereo acoustic system that offers detailed reproduction of the three frequency registers. It even has a built-in subwoofer and microphones for making calls.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 data sheet

The case used for this test was borrowed from the manufacturer

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 A flattering ending

The Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 is a relatively large speaker, measuring 49 cm wide, 24 cm high and 19 cm deep. This is necessary to accommodate all the transducers and generate the sound in a small space. It also weighs 4.7 kg, proof that it is not filled with vacuum but with powerful motorized speakers. Despite its size, the speaker looks very elegant and all-round. It is characterized by its brushed aluminum carrying bar and a top glass shell that houses the touch controls and small LEDs to indicate the charging status. The acoustic fabric used is perfectly connected to the speaker frame without the seams being visible.

Harman Kardon Go + Plus 3The upper tray is made of tempered glass // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

On the back there is a small connection panel with an analogue input in 3.5 mm mini-jack format, a USB-C port (up to 10 W for charging a third-party device) and a socket. The bottom is flanked by two impressive silicone legs that ensure the stability of the speaker and prevent it from transmitting vibrations to the surface on which it is placed. Here we see the subwoofer transducer facing the floor.

Internal design of the Go + Play 3

The Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 is therefore a 3-way speaker, meaning that it uses three separate groups of transducers to separately reproduce the bass, midrange and treble registers of the sound. This is an advantage over speakers with wideband (single-channel) transducers, as each of the transducers included on board the HK Go + Play 3 is specialized. The 13cm downward-firing speaker is equipped with a heavy and rigid diaphragm, with enormous semi-roll suspension to reproduce the deepest tones at high levels.

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 reviewThe 13 cm converter of the integrated subwoofer // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

A passive radiator also helps him, which increases his efficiency. On the front there are two transducers with a diameter of 7 cm for medium tones and two dome tweeters with a diameter of 2 cm for high tones. This montage also calls to mind the JBL Boombox 3, the adventurous – and highly musical – cousin of this Go + Play 3. Since JBL is a subsidiary of Harman, this is undoubtedly no coincidence.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 Five buttons and that’s it

Harman Kardon is apparently trying to make its Bluetooth speakers extremely easy to use. Just like the little Luna, the Go + Play 3 does not have a control application. You will therefore have to make do with the touch controls on the glass panel (volume control, Bluetooth pairing, answering calls and switching on/off). The lack of an application is therefore not a disadvantage for the supplement. The manufacturer had the bright idea of having it emit a calibration tone every time it is turned on, which it systematically measures to adapt its sound signature to the environment. This is by no means superfluous, as every room vibrates differently and reduces and amplifies certain frequencies. Being able to take this into account is even essential.

Two speakers can be connected via Bluetooth

The Bluetooth connection is practical via a multipoint connection, so you can use two Bluetooth sources one after the other without having to disconnect the other one. Two Go + Play 3 can be paired via the Bluetooth connection, which is practical for creating an even more intense music atmosphere in a large living room or garden. The Bluetooth range is classic, limited to 10 meters, but absolutely stable. To see for myself, I left the room where the speaker was with my smartphone and moved away so that a (thin) partition and a wooden floor separated it from the speaker.

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 reviewThe connections of the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

The music didn’t stop playing and without microcuts. If you decide to use the speaker during a video game, expect a slight delay in sound propagation compared to the image. In this case, it is better to use the mini-jack line input if the source allows it. On the other hand, the picture and sound synchronization is perfect when watching films and series. As for audio codecs, the speaker only supports the universal SBC codec.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 Harmonic audio quality

This speaker will please many ears as the sound it offers is homogeneous and easy to hear. Even at low volumes, bass, mids and highs blend harmoniously and without any exaggeration. The integrated subwoofer is measured, the volume is well placed and the extension to the sub-bass is pleasant. However, the speaker is sensitive to placement and is less immersive in the middle of the room than near a wall or, better, in a corner.

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3In blue the curve at moderate volume, in pink that at high volume and in orange that at full power // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

More specifically, examination of the response curve shows a slight bloat in the extreme bass range, around 40 Hz, which appears to be the cutoff frequency of the passive radiator. By strategically placing the case, you can significantly increase its performance in this area. Without this, the bass already has a nice extension and surprisingly this does not vary with volume. Typically, manufacturers reduce the bass volume above the medium volume to avoid damaging the transducers or causing mechanical noise. This is not the case with the Go + Play 3, which therefore maintains its balance at full volume. The middle and high registers are balanced and the fluctuations in the curve are within an amplitude of 6 dB. In other words: we always have the impression of homogeneity. Note the small peak around 12-13 kHz, equivalent to a slight sheen.

Dynamic headroom and soundstage

A lot of relaxation in recovering dynamic gaps and crescendos, which is due to the quality of the transducers but also to the amplification that can reach up to 160W peak power. That’s a lot for a portable speaker and the guarantee of constant control of the dynamic range. Without letting the speaker play loudly, you benefit from a nuanced and clearly understandable sound.

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3The assembly quality is impeccable // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

Although the speaker operates in stereo mode, its dimensions inevitably limit the width of the soundstage. Don’t expect the size of a pair of spaced speakers. On the other hand, the depth is appropriate; The Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 avoids the risk of compressed sound in the frontal axis that is common with Bluetooth speakers and the sound levels are therefore not compressed.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 Two microphones for making calls

Thanks to two microphones, a short-range and a long-range microphone, you can make and receive calls or even take part in a video conference via the speaker, no matter where you are in the room. Piece. The quality of the voice recording is very good. Unsurprisingly, you can also hear the person you are talking to very well. A good point, because the hands-free function is increasingly being neglected by manufacturers of home speakers.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 battery life

Harman Kardon claims a maximum battery life of 8 hours, depending on listening volume and type of music playing. This last point may seem surprising, but since the speaker reproduces very low frequencies, tracks that contain a lot of them inevitably require more amplification. With my playlist of jazz, pop and rock songs and at 50% of the maximum volume – it’s already loud on the GO + Play 3 – the speaker lasted 5h30.

Harman Kardon Go + Play 3The Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 // Source: Tristan Jacquel for Frandroid

To go beyond that, you need to listen at a third or a quarter of the volume of what is already a comfortable volume. Please note that the speaker has its own power supply and does not discharge when operated from the mains. Charging the battery takes three hours.

Harman Kardon Go Plus Play 3 price and release date

The Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 speaker is available in black or white and costs 349 euros.

Health Electromagnetic waves are they really dangerous to your health

Health. Electromagnetic waves: are they really dangerous to your health? – Is a Republican

After a warning from the National Frequency Agency regarding the iPhone 12 and what were perceived as excessive waves, Apple agreed to comply with European regulations. “The company has developed a software update,” Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for Digital, confirmed to France Infos. This was “validated by the National Frequency Agency, the market surveillance authority for radio devices and therefore smartphones”. This update has been effective since October 10th.

But does that mean that there is no risk to health? In fact, the development of new technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, new generations of mobile telephony or other connected objects increasingly increases our exposure.

What waves are we exposed to?

In fact, we are exposed to different types of waves. Let’s mainly quote:

  • Static and low frequency electromagnetic fields (from 0 to approximately 10 kHz) generated by electrical cables for power distribution, including at home or even all household appliances when they are in operation.
  • Radio frequencies (from approximately 10 kHz to 300 GHz). These are those used for mobile telephony, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.

Health effects?

“Exposure to high-intensity low-frequency electromagnetic fields, such as those emitted by certain industrial machines, can lead to stimulation of the nervous tissue of the human body, but also the retina,” explains the National Health Security Agency (ANSES). .

In the case of radio frequencies, exposure to high levels “can lead to heating of biological tissues (the skin, but also the internal tissues of the body); This is what we call the thermal effect.” However, the exposure limits currently in force in France guarantee that such levels of radio waves will never be reached in public spaces and under normal conditions of use of transmitting equipment. »

5G, risks?

With the introduction of 5G, the debate about the safety of electromagnetic waves has come to the fore again. Here too, ANSES would like to reassure and argue that, based on the current state of knowledge, the various works carried out on this subject “do not show a causal relationship between exposure to waves emitted by mobile communications and health effects”. »

However, certain publications point to a possible long-term increase in the risk of brain tumors in heavy cell phone users, which is why the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) has classified radio frequencies as “possibly carcinogenic.” .

What about WiFi?

In fact, various studies over time have suggested that WiFi radiation can cause oxidative stress, DNA damage, sperm damage, etc.

However, all official sources, be it the World Health Organization, the British Health Protection Agency or the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, point in the same direction: “There is no health risk associated with radio frequency electromagnetic fields emitted by Wi.” – Fi devices used in homes, schools and certain public places, provided they meet safety standards. »

Is there a cocktail effect?

Electromagnetic waves therefore appear to be harmless as long as their exposure remains within the officially prescribed limits. But can multiple exposures increase the risks? Unfortunately, scientists are having difficulty answering this question.

Given this complexity, ANSES recently created a working group composed of “biologists, epidemiologists, physicists and researchers specialized in the field of interactions between electromagnetic fields and the human body…”.

“Revolution”: Waldo dethroned by Incandescent – Le Journal de Montréal

The strength of determination, in addition to their obvious talent, is certainly the decisive asset of the members of the Incandescent group. They managed to dethrone Waldo this Sunday in an impressive duel revolution.

They intended to beat their opponent, and they did. “Our confidence comes from the fact that we are a strong group,” Olivia explained. We all have very strong personalities and we feed off of that and encourage each other. We know that we have something to bring, share and convey in adventure. Our confidence comes from our determination to go as far as we can.”

The group of ten dancers was formed recently, just a few months before Révolution began. “Basically, we are a group of dancers who have come together to improve themselves and enter the professional world of dance. We didn’t necessarily grow up together, we all come from different backgrounds, with completely different backgrounds. But when our trainer came with the idea of participating in the show, we decided to give it a try.”

The key to dancing in a group and successfully completing the stages is self-confidence. “We work really hard on refining the choreography, correcting it based on feedback and applying the guidelines immediately. But in the end you have to trust the other dancers. Everyone puts in their own work just as hard as the others, and that’s what ultimately leads to a great result.”

Their explosive, high-profile act allowed them to eliminate Waldo, and according to Olivia, it’s not over yet. “The victory in this stage is a great confirmation for us. We learned to dance almost before we even walked, and that shows us that all the effort was worth it. The confidence we had at the beginning was a little conceited, but it’s becoming more and more believable.
