Russian energy company Gazprom is closing the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany for three days at the end of August.
The state-owned company announced this in an online message on Friday. The reason given was routine maintenance work on a turbine. They will be held from August 31 to September 2 with the involvement of Siemens experts. After that, 33 million cubic meters of gas must flow through the Baltic Sea pipeline to Europe every day, which represents 20% of the actual capacity. Russia has reduced gas supplies to Germany and other EU countries following its sanctions over its military deployment in Ukraine.
