SAN JOSE, California, Sept. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Super Micro Computers, Inc. (SMCI)a global leader in enterprise computing, storage, graphics processing units (GPUs), networking solutions, and green computing technology, continues to extend its leadership position in accelerated computing infrastructure by being the first company to build second-generation NVIDIA OVXtm systems brings to market.

The Supermicro OVX server is based on the new GPUL40 in a 4U8GPU server with two Intel CPUs, 32 DIMMs, 8 TB of memory, 12 PCI-E slots and up to 24 storage bays. Other servers using GPUL40 include a range of systems from Supermicro: the 4U4GPU workstation/rackmount, the 2U with up to 6GPU, the 1U4GPU and the 2U2Node multi-node system. These systems support all NVIDIAL40PCI-E based GPUs.

Supermicro is once again at the forefront of the industry and is the first to bring the second generation of OVX servers to market, said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro. Our most demanding customers demand integration with the fastest CPUs and GPUs for immersive, low-latency experiences. Our OVX Server is designed to build and run the most complex Omniverse Enterprise applications at scale.

These new servers provide the breakthrough graphics, artificial intelligence, and network performance needed to create and run immersive 3D virtual worlds. Supermicro’s OVX systems are purpose-built to build and manage data center-scale NVIDIA Omniverse™ Enterprise applications, combining the most advanced NVIDIARTX-accelerated graphics and AI capabilities with high-speed secure networking and enterprise-class management.

The GPUNVIDIAL40 will be integrated into the current generation of Supermicro, and the next generations of systems will be based on Intel and AMD platforms. The next generation of Supermicro systems with GPUL40 will include the 4U8GPU server, the 4U4GPU server, and 2U and 1U servers and workstations. Powered by up to eight GPUNVIDIAL40, each SupermicroOVX server brings the power of the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture to accelerate Omniverse workloads. These systems combine GPUs with three NVIDIA ConnectX-7 SmartNICs, high-performance CPUs, and NVMe storage in a unified platform and will be available soon. The next generation of AI applications will require a computing platform optimized to create graphically rich and physically accurate virtual worlds. SupermicroOVX systems are ideal to support this ongoing industrial development.

SupermicroOVX servers are purpose-built computing systems for building and running data center-scale NVIDIA Omniverse applications, said Kevin Connors, vice president of OEM accounts at NVIDIA. This second generation Supermicro OVX server is optimized for the creation and consumption of immersive and photorealistic 3D models, simulations and digital couplings.
