NFL fans slammed league groundsman George Toma, 94, on social media as players from both Super Bowl teams struggled to stay on their feet while playing on the slippery turf at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, played.

Toma, who was honored with a “Sodfather” top before the start of Super Bowl LVII, revealed Sunday’s big game could be his last, having helped set up 56 other Super Bowl games during his legendary career had.

“George Toma should NOT want to be associated with this SB,” said another supporter after the groundsman revealed he personally thinks the grass at this year’s Super Bowl is the second best grass at any Super Bowl game in of NFL history.

“#SuperBpwl Looks like Georgia Toma laid a goose egg in his grass final,” one football fan wrote on Twitter, criticizing the 94-year-old.

“Just saying but flaunting that George Toma was a groundsman for the Super Bowl and this is his final year which may not be the best storyline after seeing this kicker almost break his ankle ‘ shared another person online.

The fan was referring to Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s missick after his first field goal attempt with 2:27 left in the first quarter. If the 27-year-old had converted his kick, the Chiefs would have taken a 10-7 lead.
