Prosecutors are ordering an investigation into a judge who issued

Following the joint complaint by Alianza Lima, Universitario and Cienciano, the public prosecutor’s office has ordered an investigation to be launched against Juan Varillas Solano.

The prosecution decided to open an investigation against the judge Juan Varillas Solano, which was prosecuted by Alianza Lima, Universitario and Cienciano for alleged irregularities to grant an interim measure regarding the broadcasting rights of Liga 1 2023 in favor of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). The procedure also includes Juan Merino BustamanteLawyer in charge of the file.

In their joint complaint, the three clubs argued with a “rapid and unusual handling of file no. 23494-2022, after having automatically granted an express precautionary measure” in order to allegedly favor the president of the FPF, Agustín Lozano, in the controversy which the of board he chairs with some of the teams participating in the Peruvian Championship for television rights.

With the precautionary measure, the FPF has been able to suspend the effects of contracts signed between some teams and the Consorcio Fútbol Perú (GolPerú). He then requested an amendment to the document, which was also accepted by the judiciary within a few days.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered that “an investigation be opened at the Public Prosecutor’s Office against Juan Gustavo Varillas Solano and Juan Merino Bustamante for allegedly committing crimes against public administration, in the modalities of specific passive bribery, passive bribery of legal assistants, specific active bribery and influence activities to the detriment of the state”.

As part of the preliminary investigation, the public prosecutor’s office has asked the legal representatives of Alianza Lima, Universitario and Media Networks (appellants) to submit their statements virtually by Wednesday 8 February from 9:00 a.m. A day later they will do the same. Agustín Lozano and the defendants (Varillas and Merino) at the same time and with the same modality.

Judge who granted precautionary measures in connection with the “white collars”.

According to a report by the Investigative Unit of the Republic, Judge Juan Augusto Varillas Solano is involved in the “Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto” case as a result of a telephone conversation with former Chief Justice César Hinostroza Pariachi, who had informed him that he had offered to help him in his promotion to the support magistracy.

What changes have been made to the precautionary measure?

Although eight clubs (Alianza, Universitario, Melgar, Cienciano, Municipal, Boys, Cusco FC and Binacional) threatened not to appear at the start of the tournament unless the precautionary measure was lifted, the FPF only asked for the text of the same to be clarified. .

The paper said that the contracts signed by clubs Universitario, Boys, Municipal and Mannucci with GolPerú before the agreement with 1190 Sports would be respected, which was not specifically mentioned before the change.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Retired US Navy Corporal 1st Class General Wilson just performed a dazzling rendition of the national anthem, the best I’ve heard in a long time. That’s absolutely a 9.5 out of 10, the highest I’ve given it in a very, very long time.

It sounded something like this.

Good work!

The 76%

So of course I’m not the only one predicting the Chiefs’ downfall – it turns out about 76% of people choose to play this money game like the Bengals! This is all the more notable given that CBS Sports reports that “Mahomes has been preferred in all 12 of his previous playoff starts. This is the longest streak to start a career in the Super Bowl era.”

You know what that means, right? We’re all going down!

At least we all have each other! All 76% of us!

Who’s gonna win this thing?

As if Cincy didn’t already bounce off the news that the long-awaited Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project was finally going to move forward, just wait until they book a second straight Super Bowl after beating the Chiefs again in their backyard. I like the Bengals in a pie walk of sorts, 31-21, with Mahomes suffering from a tough outing on one leg.

What are you saying? Well, reader Bill Preston writes:

I think this will be one of wild swings. The Bengals will start strong and stomp through the first three quarters, but the Chiefs have strength at depth and, above all, determination. They will put together cunning games coupled with exciting exploits and steal this one.

So we agree to disagree, and that’s okay!

The eagles are there!

Read all about it!

Never make him angry…

Just in case you didn’t think all that “Burrowhead” stuff doesn’t leave a mark out there, well, just listen to the Chief’s indomitable defensive tackle Chis Jones:

I don’t think you want to give Mr Jones anything to fret about. Especially when his influence on defense will have a lot to do with who wins this game.

Mahomes (Brittany) and the Mayor

As if the tension between these two teams wasn’t enough, Pat Mahomes’ wife Brittany has joined in the taunting of Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, who caused a stir over a taunting pre-game video in which he said:

“While Joseph Lee Burrow … who is 3-0 up against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test … to confirm whether or not he is his father.”

This had a lead balloon effect online, so Hizzoner asked for a mulligan of sorts. Brittany definitely wasn’t impressed.

Hi!

Hey folks and welcome to our coverage of the American Football Conference Championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s hard to argue that this is the cream of the crop from the AFC, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the next few hours. When it’s over, we’ll know who takes on the soon-to-be NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, currently beating the San Francisco 49ers, in Super Bowl LVII on February 12 in Arizona.

We’re incredibly close to finally learning the true health status of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes II. KC’s engine has been slow in practice this week after suffering a serious sprained ankle against the Jaguars last week. Mahomes got the better of a young, inexperienced Jacksonville squad, but using that trick against these Bengals is going to be a lot harder. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told the press corps, “He’s looking good. He moves well,” but he won’t come out and say he’s a “useless gimp.” So here’s what we know: they’ll be pumping him on as much painkilling serum as possible to keep him on the field and functional, and that the Bengals will squash any chance of Mahomes’ sore right ankle. Those are the stakes.

Meanwhile, Bengals QB Joe Burrow is enjoying the momentum of a franchise-record season in which he set a Cincinnati mark with 35 touchdown throws this season. Burrow also owns a 3-0 record against those Chiefs and is probably one of the most confident players in the world right now. He also has better wide receivers than Mahomes, with the capable trio of Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins. Mahomes has Travis Kelce, who is coming off a monster season on the NFL’s top offense. However, it’s also worth noting what he no longer has: Tyreek Hill.

That’s the QB situation: we’re going to look at some of the other fun factors before kick-off, but for now get comfortable, have your drink and if you like drop me a message. tweet me or email me your predictions, feelings and thoughts and I’ll make you famous!

David will be here shortly. In the meantime, here’s a preview of tonight’s game.

AFC Championship Game (Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday 6:30 p.m. EST/11:30 p.m. GMT)

Story of the season: The Kansas City Chiefs took a 14-3 regular season lead to secure the all-important bye week in the AFC. In their first postseason game, they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20, although quarterback Patrick Mahomes injured his ankle during the game and missed part of the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals, who upset the Chiefs in last year’s AFC title game, had to take the scenic route after winning just 12-4 in the regular season. They defeated the Baltimore Ravens 24-17 at home and, even more impressively, took on the Buffalo Bills on the road, beating them 27-10.

What the Bengals need to do to win: The offensive line must prove their remarkable performance against the Bills was no fluke. On Sunday, Cincinnati’s smashed-up O-line did a masterful job protecting Burrow, who has only been sacked once. It’s not certain whether either Alex Cappa or Jonah Williams will return, so their backups may need to put in a repeat performance against a defense that will be better prepared than the Bills.

What the Chiefs need to do to win: Mahomes must be at least 80% at his best. It was notable when Mahomes returned with a high ankle sprain in the second half against the Jaguars and led the Chiefs to victory, but when he’s still limping it makes it difficult to beat a Bengals team that’s been in that position previously.

Key players for the Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB. Let’s not overthink that. Burrow had 35 touchdowns, second place finish and 4,475 passing yards in the regular season. He’s also only in his third season as a pro, although his playoff success suggests he’s been at it longer. It’s entirely possible that we’re kind of underestimating Burrow.

Key players for the Chiefs: Chris Jones, DT. When it comes to defending the Chiefs against the Bengals offense, Jones could end up making the difference. In the 2022 regular season, Jones had 15.5 sacks, despite oddly not having had one in the playoffs in his entire career. Sunday would be the ideal time for his first.

Prognosis: Bengals over Chiefs. If Mahomes were healthy, it would be difficult to play the Chiefs at home, despite his career 3-1 draw with Burrows Cincinnati, including the memorable collapse during last year’s AFC Championship game. However, it doesn’t look like he will be, so there’s a very real possibility that his record will drop to 1-4. Either way, we could see one of the NFL’s greatest rivalries of all time blossoming before us.

The Pennsylvania squad was driven by their ground play and robust defense.

The winners’ four touchdowns were scored on the runs. Miles Sanders (twice, Boston Scott and Jalen Hurts crossed the goal line. Overall, the Eagles had 148 rushing yards and had nearly 37 minutes of possession.

On the defensive, the quarterback hunters made life difficult for the “Niners”. Haason Reddick hit center Brock Purdy hard in the first quarter and the young sensation injured the elbow of the arm he throws the ball with.

The very last pick of the NFL’s recent draft was forced off the field before being forced back on it in the third quarter due to his substitute, Josh Johnson, also being injured.

One of the NFL’s big revelations this season, Purdy was sent into the fray in Week 13 after Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance got into action. The young quarterback suffered the first loss of his career against the Eagles.

Running back Christian McCaffrey scored the 49ers’ only touchdown. He reached the payzone for a ninth straight game.

It is also the Eagles’ first appearance in the Super Bowl since the 2017 season. They defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 and won the Vince-Lombardi Trophy for the first time. This is the fourth time that the Philadelphia club have a chance to become champions.

49ers vs Eagles Highlights Philly Dominates NFC Championship Game

49ers vs. Eagles Highlights: Philly Dominates NFC Championship Game

Jalen Hurts and powerhouse Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game by double digits, 31-7, in one of the NFL’s most anticipated postseason games.

With the win, Philly heads to Super Bowl LVII in Arizona (February 12, 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App).

Breakout rookie quarterback Brock Purdy left the game after the Niners’ opening run with an elbow injury and didn’t return until early in the second half when backup QB Josh Johnson was out with a concussion.

Here are the highlights!

Philadelphia Eagles 31, San Francisco 49ers 7

Fly up!

Rather than opting for a field goal on their opening drive, Philly made a statement by keeping his offense on the field.

On a crucial fourth down, Hurts went deep for DeVonta Smith, who snaged a monster 29 yards to put the Eagles deep in the red zone. After taking a closer look at the piece, it turned out to be the case Smith may not have caught the ball in the end …

Home team takes the lead

… but it was too little, too late. Two games later, Miles Sanders ran right through the Niners’ defense and conceded for a brief hit to put Philly 7-0 early. It was Sanders’ 12th rushing touchdown of the season.

Before Sunday’s game, the Eagles were 8-0 up this season as Sanders produced a stunning result. He is one of five players in Eagles history to have 12 touchdowns in a single season (including the playoffs) and just one of four players to do so in the Super Bowl era, along with Hurts, LeSean McCoy FOX and five-time pro bowler Ricky Watters.

Shaky start

On the Niners’ opening drive, Purdy tried to connect with George Kittle, but the ball came loose. The Eagles challenged the incomplete pass regulation, and the game was reversed, resulting in a Purdy fumble near midfield.

San Francisco’s defense showed up when it mattered most, forcing Philly to go three and out after turnover.

Hurt mount for 49ers

Purdy did not return for the Niners’ subsequent series. Backup QB Johnson lined up for San Francisco, that went three-and-out on the subsequent journey. Purdy went briefly to the locker room before returning to the sidelines where his throwing arm was wrapped and iced.

Johnson, a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft, boasted a 1-8 record as a starter and a career completion 58% before Sunday’s game. The 36-year-old journeyman was part of an NFL-record 14 different teams.

Elsewhere, Nick Bosa, who was not on the field at the time, walked to the sidelines after being struck and was tended to by the 49ers coaching staff. He took over the field in San Francisco’s subsequent possession but left before the drive ended.

Those setbacks came after Niner’s star linebacker was Fred Warner briefly injured in the second turn.

what could have been

The Eagles narrowly missed a safety on their first drive of the second quarter and ended up three-and-out.

Knotted!

The Niners closed things out midway through the second quarter thanks to that furious run from Christian McCaffrey, who missed two straight practice sessions this week with a calf injury.

With that touchdown, McCaffrey had scored in nine straight games, the longest streak of a 49er since Terrell Owens (1998). McCaffrey’s nine-game scoring streak is the third longest in Niners history (including the playoffs).

On road!

The Eagles went 14-7 late in the second quarter thanks to a 17-yard pickup from Kenneth Gainwell, who set up a smooth 13-yard touchdown from Sanders – his second result of the game.

Sales volume!

Johnson fumbled with the 49ers’ next drive and coughed the ball up San Francisco’s own 36-yard line. The Eagles capitalized on their newfound possession as Boston Scott found the end zone with ease just a few games later.

So Philly took the lead with 21:7.

Heading into Sunday, the 49ers were 4-0 in games where they had two or more freebies this season.

QB chaos

Johnson left the game after falling on the Niners’ first drive in the second half. He was later expelled.

Purdy reentered for one play at QB – a handoff to McCaffrey – before San Francisco swiped the ball away.

move away

The Niners nearly forced the Eagles to punt late in the third quarter, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave Philly another chance. The drive continued, and Hurts launched 14 yards to put the Eagles deep in the red zone.

As if that wasn’t enough, an unnecessary rude penalty put the Eagles on the 3-yard line, and Hurts ran it into himself to give his team a 28-7 advantage going into the fourth quarter. With that result, Hurts passed Cam Newton for fastest touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season (including the playoffs) with 15.

Not how they worked it out

McCaffrey checked in at QB for the Niners late in the fourth quarter, but things definitely didn’t go as planned.

Seal the deal

The Eagles kept pouring it out as the second half drew to a close. Tensions ran high as fights erupted between games, resulting in the ejection of Eagles safety K’Von Wallace and 49ers tackle Trent Williams.

In the end, the Adler secured the home win with 31:7 with a late game fiddly recoverypunching their ticket to Super Bowl LVII (February 12, 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App) – their fourth-ever Super Bowl appearance.

When the Bengals have the ball

Last week, the big story in the Bengals’ game against the Buffalo Bills was the offensive line. How would the group hold up ahead of Joe Burrow while three starters down and the likes of Jackson Carman, Hakeem Adeniji and Max Scharping to count on? As it turned out, it held up well.

Burrow was only pressured on 31.6% of his dropbacks, a far below average rate, according to Tru Media. The Bengals’ ball carriers averaged an impressive 1.94 yards per carry before contact, a significant improvement over the 1.26 yards per carry they averaged during the regular season. Not only did the Buffalo defensive line fail to dominate the game; it was largely dominated. Cincinnati controlled the line of scrimmage from the vault.

Now the question arises whether the offensive line can do it again. The Chiefs actually pressured opposing quarterbacks at a higher rate (35.7%) than the Bills (33.7%) during the regular season. And with Buffalo without Von Miller last week, the Chiefs also have a bigger individual threat (Chris Jones) than any of the Bills brought to the table a week ago. There is good news and bad news for the Bengals on this front. The good thing is that the two remaining starters along the offensive line (Ted Karras and Cordell Volson) both play inside where Jones does his work. The bad thing is that Scharping also plays indoors and the Chiefs can target Jones anywhere they want to generate advantageous matchups.

team logo

However, the true way the Bengals can neutralize the onslaught is through Burrow. Against Buffalo, Burrow brought the ball out in an average of 2.57 seconds, according to Tru Media, a number that squarely matches his season average of 2.55 seconds. Only Tom Brady (2.33 seconds) got rid of the ball faster this season, and only Brady made a higher proportion of his shots (55.3%) within 2.5 seconds of the snap than Burrow (55.0%). ). Burrow’s superpower is his ability to quickly decide where to go with the ball and get it out of his hands when the situation calls for it, but he also has the extended playability brought by the league’s other superstar quarterbacks.

It helps that he has arguably the best weapons roster in the league — or at least in his conference — to choose from. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins give him two #1 alpha receivers, each of which can make both contested grabs and yards after catch. Chase is nearly impossible to bring down with the first tackle, and the Bengals take advantage of that fact, putting the ball on screens and crossers for him so he can attack defenders with steam. In the first duel between these two teams, the Chiefs too often left their inexperienced corners on an island with Chase or Higgins on the outside, and Burrow repeatedly made them pay for it. Steve Spagnuolo must come up with a different plan of attack this time.

player's headshot

team logo

It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs push L’Jarius Sneed back out and put Trent McDuffie back in the slot after trading those positions back to the Jaguars last week. Jacksonville’s biggest threat was Christian Kirk, so the Chiefs put Sneed back in the slot. The biggest threats to Cincinnati remain Chase and Higgins, not Tyler Boyd, so it might make sense to bring Sneed back into the perimeter and allow McDuffie to attempt to physically play Boyd indoors. However, Spagnuolo should still be careful to provide proper assistance to Sneed and Jaylen Watson, or Burrow will aggressively work the one-on-ones and trust his boys to win the ball in the air. Being able to send enough body into Burrow to create pressure while still maintaining enough cover to ensure they don’t get smoked from the outside is going to be a tricky balance.

The Bengals got much better at running the ball after moving away from the way they wanted to run the ball earlier in the season. They were a below center team early on, outside the zone, and it was extremely vanilla. They switched to almost exclusively shotgun attacks earlier this year, which allowed them to get a bit more unpredictability into their running attack. Kansas City ranked a respectable 15th in the Rush Defense DVOA that season, according to Football Outsiders. So this isn’t one of those sessions where you can just run the ball down your throat if you want, as has occasionally been the case in previous seasons. Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine certainly have their part to play here, but the Bengals do best what they do best: let Burrow control the game by playing point guard from the pocket.

When the Chiefs have the ball

Well, it all really boils down to one question: Is Patrick Mahomes healthy enough to play like Patrick Mahomes? Honestly, I have no idea, and I think anyone (except maybe the Chiefs’ team doctors) who tells you they know for sure is lying.

So let’s try to find out what we know:

  • We know Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will again have a tailored game plan to deal with Mahomes and the Chiefs’ passing attack.
  • We know the schedule will likely be at least a little different from what we saw in Week 13, which is itself a little different from what we saw in last year’s AFC title game.
  • We know Kansas City’s passing game flows through Travis Kelce, and the Bengals will likely try to take him away, using Tre Flowers to get him near the line of scrimmage and other coverage defenders further down send.
  • We know the Chiefs overhauled their offense this past offseason to counter the type of defense the Bengals and other teams used against them last year, leading players to fit into specific roles around their quick play, their direct dropback play, and their running play take on another level.
  • We know all of those moves largely worked, with Mahomes leading the NFL in the EPA by dropback, Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon giving them the most diverse backfield in years, and the Chiefs having arguably their best offensive season since Mahomes (his first) MVP award already 2018
  • We know the Bengals know all these things and the Chiefs know they know and the Bengals know the Chiefs know they know and so on.

player's headshot

team logo

If Mahomes is sane, he should be trusted to figure things out. Even in the loss to Cincinnati earlier this season, Mahomes completed 16 of 27 passes for 223 yards (8.2 per attempt) and a touchdown while also scoring on the ground. If it weren’t for a Kelce fumble, we might be talking about this game very differently. It’s not like Mahomes has shut down completely, after all. Kansas City scored in four of their first six drives, and on one of those drives the clock was running out with two runs from deep in their own territory in the first half. With five possessions, they came up with a total of 24 points. Then Kelce fumbled, Cincy scored, Harrison Butker missed a field goal that made the game crucial, and the rest is Cincinnati’s mayor claiming Burrow is Mahome’s dad or something. (If anything, it should be Anarumo, Mahomes’ father, but I digress.)

In this game, however, the Bengals got Mahomes to be incredibly patient. He averaged 3.36 seconds before passing the ball, the seventh longest throw time in his 91 career games. (Two of the six games in which he took longer were last year’s AFC title game loss to Cincinnati and the year before the Super Bowl loss to the Buccaneers.) Part of the reason he was successful nonetheless was that he could maneuver in the pocket with his mobility, and he used that mobility to create big plays on the field. Most of the fast-playing material the Chiefs were trying to get back on their offense this season was unavailable.

Whether it’s available this week depends on Anarumo deciding that Mahomes’ injury means he should be pressuring and getting him to move, or not pressuring because Mahomes can’t move . If Cincy presses, Mahomes can carve the defense out of the bag like he did against the Jaguars last week. However, the Bengals have rarely blitzed in these last two games against the Chiefs, and they’re not a strong blitz team anyway. It seems unlikely that Anarumo will suddenly change course in this regard. But unless the Bengals send additional bodies, it’s also likely that the wall the Chiefs have built in front of Mahomes over the past two years will hold up and give him time to find the free man in the field.

I would expect Kansas City to be in the shotgun mostly so Mahomes doesn’t have to move too much to ease the run game or get into the play-action-pass concepts meaning it should be a harder game for McKinnon as Pacheco. McKinnon is an ace pass protector and has a little more big play juice due to his agility, but Pacheco has the ability to go downhill and punish the Bengals for playing with light boxes. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Chiefs tried to get their running game going early so the Bengals have to sneak up and allow more downfield throws.

We’ve finally set our Final Four for the 2022 NFL season, and now it’s time to decide which teams will play in Super Bowl LVII. The San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs enter week 21 of the season and all four teams are struggling with injuries.

Below we will break down the injury updates for Conference Championship Sunday. Who’s in? Who is outside? Who is trending in the right direction? This is your one stop shop for all things injury related in the NFL.

All NFL odds via Caesars Sportsbook.

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5)

  • bosses: TE Travis Kelce (back), WR Justin Watson (illness), WR Mecole Hardman (pelvis) QUESTIONABLE
  • Bengal: G Alex Cappa (ankle), T Jonah Williams (knee) OUT

Everyone had their eyes on Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes this week after he sprained his ankle in Saturday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite that injury, head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Friday that Mahomes will start on Sunday, noting that “he’s moving well”. Mahomes has been a full participant in practice all week, as has running back Jerick McKinnon (ankle) and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. (toe). With Mahomes in attendance, the Chiefs’ biggest injury concern is Travis Kelce. The first-team All-Pro was added to the injury report after his back was suspended on Friday. Kelce was listed as a real game decision for Sunday’s game but he is active and will play. Wide receivers Mecole Hardman (pelvis) and Justin Watson (illness) are also questionable.

Meanwhile, the Bengals added Hayden Hurst to the team’s injury report before Sunday’s AFC title game is fought back against the Chiefs. Hurst, who was not on Wednesday’s injury report, was hampered in Thursday’s practice with a calf injury. On Friday, Hurst stated that he will be on the field when the Bengals meet Kansas City on Sunday. Not all injury news was good for Cincinnati, as starting offensive linemen Alex Cappa (ankle) and Jonah Williams (knee) were both ruled out for the second straight game. Cappa has been out since injuring his ankle in Week 18 against the Ravens, while Williams missed last week’s game after dislocating a kneecap in the Bengals’ playoff win over Baltimore. Jackson Carman and Max Scharping are expected to replace both players in the starting XI again.
