Repechage: five players who could interest CH outside the top 4

Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson and Matvei Michkov: These forwards are almost unanimously recognized as the top four players available at the next National Hockey League (NHL) auction.

Thanks to the Arizona Coyotes’ 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, the Montreal Canadiens returned to the top five worst teams at Bettman Circuit.

Thus, if the lottery results respected the order of overall classification, the Montreal staff would hold the fifth pick overall and could be in for a pretty dilemma.

Here are five players that should pique the curiosity of Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, Martin Lapointe, Nick Bobrov, and the rest of the Habs guides.

– Will Smith, forward

Developed under the American development program, this Massachusetts center player doesn’t lack for tools in his trunk. Known for his playing ability and superb skating, Smith amassed 95 points in 47 games with the USA U18 team. Like Fantilli, who should be picked a few ranks ahead of him, he has already signed up for next season, playing with Boston College in the NCAA’s Hockey East Conference. However, we are entitled to wonder if his similarities to the CH captain – like Nick Suzuki he’s a right-handed center player of modest height – might convince the Habs to look elsewhere.

– David Reinbacher, defense attorney

Almost every season at the Bettman Circuit, defensemen are underrated in played drafts and are often picked much earlier than expected. Even if the next repechage is characterized by an impressive influx of offensive talent, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if several defenders are chosen from the top 10 in the junior ice hockey world. He already plays for the men in the first Swiss league, where he collected 22 points in 46 games with Kloten HC. Could the CH 2019 emulate Steve Yzerman, who had startled many by targeting Mortiz Seider in the sixth rung?

– Zach Benson, forward

The British-Colombian, who is comfortable on both left wing and centre, could drop a few rungs given his 5ft 10in and 159lbs. Benson may not be the toughest, but he’s not giving up his place on the ice. He is described as a tireless and talented forward who makes it his mission to make his teammates look good. He leads the Winnipeg Ice with 98 points in 60 games this season. He statistically dominates his teammates Matthew Savoie and Conor Geekie, two players who were voted in the top 11 at the circuit’s last auction. However, the Habs may be reluctant to add another small forward to their top six, which in the long run could include Cole Caufield, Filip Mesar and Sean Farrell.

– Dalibor Dvorsky, forward

For the same reason, the Canadian could be seduced by Dalibor Dvorsky and add another young Slovakian attacker. Without being spectacular, the 6’1″ 205lb center is one of the most complete players available. Juraj Slafkovksy’s compatriot is useful on both sides of the ice and has offensive instincts that should allow him to quickly establish a second line in the NHL Dvorsky split the season between Swedish Premier League club AIK and his junior school club. Against men he had six goals and 14 points in 38 games. He had been cautious at the World Youth Championship, breaking through the Slovaks collected three points in six duels up to the quarterfinals.

– Edward Sale, forward

The 17-year-old left winger also plays in a European first division team with Brno Kometa in the Czech Republic. He is the only player under 20 to have played more than five games with his team and is not bad with seven goals and as many assists in 43 games. Sale impresses with his confidence on the ice and anticipation, his six points in seven games with the World Juniors has impressed many and his 6’1″ could catch the CH’s eye. With Caufield, Slafkovsky, Farrell and Joshua Roy to name a few, the Habs have plenty of left wing options going forward.

Bracket of NCAA tournament 2023: Computer simulation reveals surprising surprises, March Madness picks, sleepers – Archyde

The 2023 NCAA tournament has been officially announced, and several teams in the field of 68 will be on high alert when round one begins. Alabama, Kansas, Houston, and Purdue were named the four No. 1 seeds for March Madness 2023 on Selection Sunday. Arizona and UCLA finished 2nd in the 2023 NCAA basketball bracket and will look to end the 24-year Pac-12 conference national championship drought. Duke was named a No. 5 seed in the East Region of the 2023 NCAA Tournament Bracket in his freshman year under head coach Jon Scheyer.

Which March Madness 2023 sleepers have what it takes to put together a bunch of surprises and go on a Cinderella run? Which top-seeded teams should be on alert in the first round? Before making your 2023 NCAA tournament predictions, check out the March Madness bracket picks from SportsLine’s trusted computer model.

The SportsLine projection model simulated the entire 2023 NCAA tournament 10,000 times. It absolutely smashed its March Madness picks, beating over 92% of all CBS Sports Brackets two of the last four tournaments. The model also nailed three teams in the West and South Region Sweet 16 last year, including No. 5 Houston.

It also knows how to spot an excitement. The same model has spawned brackets that nailed 18 first-round surprises through double-digit seeds. Two years ago, it also provided some massive upsets, including predicting the championship game between Gonzaga and Baylor and winning Houston’s Midwest Region win despite the Cougars not being No. 1.

Now SportsLine’s advanced computer model has simulated the entire NCAA tournament 10,000 times to find the perfect bracket for the 2023 NCAA tournament and find out which teams will deliver the biggest upsets. They shouldn’t even think about making a choice without seeing what their model has to say.

Top 2023 March Madness Bracket angry picks

A 2023 March Madness matchup to watch: No. 8 Memphis vs. No. 9 East Florida Atlantic. Both teams bring balance to this 2023 NCAA Tournament matchup as each ranks in the top 40 for offensive and defensive efficiency according to KenPom. Memphis has the AAC’s all-time leading scorer, Kendric Davis, who led the conference in points (21.8 per game) and assists (5.7 per game) this season. FAU counterattacks with 7-foot-1 center Vladislav Goldin, who has been a key force at both ends of the court in the Owls’ recent seven-game winning streak.

In the East region, all eyes will be on Duke, who is entering an NCAA tournament for the first time under head coach Jon Sheyer. The 5th seeded Blue Devils will be on alert as they take on 12th seed Oral Roberts. Duke went 26-8 in the regular season but got hot and made his way to win the ACC tournament. Oral Roberts, who had a Cinderella run at the 2021 NCAA tournament, compiled a 30-4 record in the regular season with a perfect 18-0 mark in Summit Conference play. The Golden Eagles are one of the most successful offensive teams in the country, averaging 84.2 points per game.

Another duel to watch in the East Region is No. 6 Kentucky vs No. 11 Providence. Both teams appeared poised to pursue deep NCAA tournament runs at various points during the regular season, but disagreements led to their humble seeding. The Wildcats went 21-11 by a 2-4 mark against top-25 teams in the regular season. The brothers also posted a 21-11 regular-season record, going 3-5 against their top-25 opponents. Both teams have stumbled recently but have the talent to cause a stir in the East. Here’s a look at what other March Madness Matchups 2023 to target.

Paolo Guerrero and his emotional reaction to the national team call-up: "Do you mean that seriously?"

Paolo Guerrero and his emotional reaction to the national team

Paul Guerrero has settled in racing club and aims to regain its best level. Last Sunday, the “Predator” played in the starting XI for the first time and showed an acceptable performance despite the lack of scoring chances. In this way, the striker has already worn the academy shirt six games in a row, which is why his possible call for the Peru team to play against Germany and Morocco is beginning to take effect, an Argentine journalist has told him. This news was met with surprise and disbelief by the attacker.

“You’re giving me the message because I didn’t know. Really? Are you serious? Very happy if so, because I don’t really know. No one has contacted me, (but) when I called” I am very happy to be back in the national team. Of course, representing my country is always an illusion,” said an emotional Guerrero. At the moment, however, a footballer’s call to bicolor has not been made official. Video: @machitocasas/Twitter

Lakers outsiders look into play-in after Knicks loss as margin of error continues to shrink – CBS Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers were certainly within reach of snatching a win from the New York Knicks on Sunday night as D’Angelo Russell attempted to lead his team to victory with 33 points on an efficient 13-of-19 from the field. Anthony Davis put down a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to match the Knicks’ offensive firepower, which also included RJ Barrett and Julius Randle, who had 63 points combined.

In the end, New York clinched a 112-108 win on the second night of a consecutive game to end a three-game losing streak. The win draws the Knicks into the victory column for fifth place in the East even with the Brooklyn Nets, but for the Lakers, the loss is a costly one.

The Lakers’ loss slipped them back to 11th place in the Western Conference, a grim reality for how quickly Southwestern teams can go these days. Technically, the Lakers are in a four-way tie for 9th place, where they got in the night before losing to the Knicks. But due to the league’s groundbreaking rules, which include things like division records and head-to-head games, LA sits behind the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

A win would have put the Lakers level with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks in 7th place. But one night Davis was performing, he said, “abominable‘ the Lakers find themselves on shaky ground again as they attempt to secure a postseason berth.

But in a Western Conference where LA is just two games behind the No. 6 Golden State Warriors, having a short memory after losses like Sunday night’s is important. While the loss digs a small hole for the Lakers, their next matchup on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans will play a key role in how the season-ending standings get rocked. LA currently leads the season series 2-1 against New Orleans, and a win on Tuesday would seal the tiebreak for the Lakers. This will come in handy when these two teams end up with the same record and are fighting for one of the last play-in spots.

In fact, some of LA’s remaining games will have a big impact on the rankings. Three days later, after that Pelicans game, the Lakers take on the Mavericks, who are just a game ahead of them in the west. Other matchups against Thunder, Timberwolves and Jazz (twice) will directly impact where the Lakers end up.

Though Sunday’s loss is a hard pill to swallow, especially with the Lakers within two points with 20 seconds remaining, there are still many games on the schedule to gain ground. It won’t be easy, especially with LeBron James still sidelined, but LA have already had impressive wins in James’ absence. If the Lakers manage to string together some wins down the line, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them with one of the higher spots in the play-in, or maybe even avoid it altogether and snag that No. 6 spot.

CH A first win in March

CH: A first win in March?

The Montreal Canadiens are aiming for their first win of the month tonight as they host the Colorado Avalanche.

• Also read: Six defeats and then after that?

The Habs have actually lost their last six games, the last of which was on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils (Watch the video above) and only collected two out of a possible 12 points in this series.

With 58 points, the CH ranks 28th overall in the NHL, four points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks, who are 29th.

Martin St-Louis’ side have only won three of their last 10 duels.

The Colorado formation, meanwhile, is second in the Western Conference team with 78 points. She has a five-point lead over her closest rivals, the Nashville Predators.

familiar faces

So the followers of the Habs will find familiar faces in the adversary.

The Finn Artturi Lehkonen is already guaranteed to finish with his career-best overall score. He has 46 in 61 games.

His previous peak was 38 points, reached last year when Colorado acquired him from the Habs to help them in their quest for the highest honors.

Then he should reach the plateau of 20 goals for the first time in the Bettman Circuit. Lehkonen has scored 18 goals this season, matching his tally from 2016-17, his first year in the NHL.

With 18 games to go, his twenties seem more accessible than ever. He’s also two out of 100 life goals away.

The 27-year-old, who plays alongside JT Compher and Valeri Nichushkin, has had his ups and downs of late, finishing four of the last five games on a negative margin.

For all of 2022-23, he ends with a +4 record.

Lars Eller, another former blue-white-red holder, will try to help the Avalanche, which acquired him from the Washington Capitals at the close.

However, it has been a tougher season for the 33-year-old Dane, who has been limited to seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 60 games so far. He hasn’t picked up a single point in six games since arriving in Denver.

Nonetheless, Eller shines in the faceoff circle, where he’s won more than 54% of the time.

If he keeps up the pace, he’ll end the season with the best record of his career. He approached that number with the Canadian in 2013-2014, winning 53.22% of his confrontations.

NCAA Bracket Predictions: College Basketball Model Releases Surprise March Madness 2023 Tournament Pick – CBS Sports

When the 2023 March Madness category was unveiled on Sunday, several surprising storylines emerged, including Rutgers, KenPom’s top-rated team being eliminated from the 2023 NCAA tournament field. Texas A&M is seeded 7th in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Class despite finishing second in the SEC and second in the SEC Tournament in the regular season. The Aggies face No. 10 Penn State on Thursday during the March Madness 2023 schedule. Which Team Should You Pick To Advance In Your 2023 NCAA Tournament?

Overall winner seed Alabama will open its tournament run when it meets the winner of 16th seed Southeast Missouri State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. These two teams will go head-to-head in the 2023 NCAA Tournament First Four in Dayton on Tuesday. Before making predictions for the 2023 March Madness bracket, be sure to check out the 2023 NCAA tournament bracket picks from SportsLine’s trusted computer model.

5 Houston.

Two years ago, it also provided some massive upsets, including predicting the championship game between Gonzaga and Baylor and winning Houston’s Midwest Region win despite the Cougars not being No. 1.

There’s simply no reason to rely on luck when there’s proven technology to help you dominate your 2023 March Madness picks. Now that the 2023 NCAA bracket has been unveiled, the model is simulating the matchups and the results are in. You can only see it at SportsLine.

Three 2023 March Madness Bracket games to watch

One of March Madness 2023’s most intriguing matchups to watch: No. 8 Maryland vs. No. 9 West Virginia in the South Region. Inconsistent play prevented these teams from getting better seeded, but they have nine wins overall against the top-25 teams and are setting up an intriguing matchup that will produce a challenger in a likely second-round matchup against top-seeded Alabama. Maryland plays relatively slow and tries to hold low-scoring games, while WVU plays faster and averages more points, making for a must-play first-round match.

Another March Madness 2023 matchup to keep an eye on: No. 5 San Diego State vs. No. 12 Charleston Cougars. The Aztecs have made four NCAA tournament appearances in five seasons under head coach Brian Dutcher, but they’re still trying to get past the round of 16 with a 21-1 record this season and five players averaging double digits.

No. 4 Virginia vs. No. 13 Furman is another important matchup in the South. The Cavaliers have not exited the first round since winning the title in 2019, and they became the first No. 1 to lose to a No. 16 in 2018. However, they are led by two senior guards and have the ninth-ranked defense in the country. Furman potted his ticket when it won the Southern Conference Tournament under head coach Bob Richey. The Paladins also have experience with senior guard Mike Bothwell and senior forward Jalen Slawson. You can see the model’s 2023 NCAA bracket picks here.
