Snow, which started falling overnight, is expected to last through much of Friday before good weather returns for the weekend in southern and central Quebec.

Snow warnings remain in place for the Montérégie, Estrie, Mauricie, Quebec, Beauce and part of Bas-Saint-Laurent sectors.

In Greater Montreal, snow should stop leaving 5 centimeter accumulations on the ground by afternoon, but weather will be cloudy and windy thereafter.
According to the federal authority, there is a risk of freezing rain in the Chula Vallée du Richelieu-Saint-Hyacinthe, Vaudreuil-Soulanges-Huntingdon and Estrie sectors.
Environment Canada forecasts snow will total six to ten inches in places across the province’s central sectors by Friday night.
Strong winds with gusts of 50 km/h are causing snow drifts in places, but the snow is expected to stop in the afternoon after accumulations of another 5 centimeters.
Wintry conditions on Friday are expected to give way to weather without precipitation and clouds to play yo-yo with the sun over the weekend, particularly Saturday.
But on Sunday clouds will be thicker with intermittent snow in western Quebec and areas slightly further north with a noticeably higher mercury.
