SNL attacks fanatic George Santos as lying NFL reporter who claims to lead the league

“I’m the real Bo Jackson”: SNL casts the fantastical George Santos as a mendacious NFL reporter who claims to lead the league on the fly AND in haste — but his tall tales still aren’t as bizarre as the ones he actually tells

  • Saturday Night Live poked fun at Congressman George Santos’ lies last night
  • SNL portrayed Santos as an NFL reporter with a resume with false credentials
  • Bowen Yang portrayed Santos and said he has more wins than Tom Brady
  • The real Santos became embroiled in a litany of lies and fabrications about his life

Saturday Night Live tore down lying Congressman George Santos in his cold last night, portraying him as an overwhelmed NFL sideline reporter with a long list of fake football references to his name.

On the show, comedian Bowen Yang portrayed a Santos who claimed to have led the league in rushing and passing to be the “first African-American quarterback to ever dunk a football” and himself the “real Bo Jackson.” — a well-known athlete for forming all-star teams in pro football and baseball.

But Santos’ claims in the sketch fell far short of the absurdity of the real Republican’s lies, which included, to name a few, claims that he was descended from Holocaust survivors, that his mother was in the South Tower of the World Trade Center was 9/11 and that he saved thousands of pets through a charity that never existed.

SNL also slammed Santos’ virulent — and false — denial that he ever performed as a drag queen in Brazil, having Yang strut around the screen in a wig and dress while dancing to the NFL theme song.

The sketch began with a parody of the NFL post-game panel discussing a game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

After some talking, the panelists introduced a new reporter — Rep. George Santos — who they said had submitted such a compelling resume that they “had to give him a shot.”

Some of his purported credentials included winning “more championships than Tom Brady and the fact that he was a “Heisman Trophy Winner.”

Yang then appeared in Santos’ signature sweater, blazer and glasses and said he was “here to cover the Super Bowl live!”

SNL’s Santos then made a series of ridiculous claims about his history as a professional footballer, responding when asked where he played college football, “the university of the college.”

He then summarized the Eagles-Giants game, claiming that he himself led the field in a string of impossible performances, including “12 touchdowns, 17 rebounds and 10 RBIs” and “36 of 25 passes.”

He added that he was awarded an Oscar by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The commentators then tried to pull Santos off the show, saying, “I’ve been told that some of those stats aren’t accurate and that you might not have attended the game at all.”

But the SNL Santos wasn’t done yet. After cutting to another field reporter, he stormed back into the camera and introduced himself as “Kitara Ravache,” the name the real Santos famously used while performing in drag in Brazil.

SNL’s Santos/Raveche then listed his drag queen stats, which included 26 “death drops,” 19 “duck walks,” and “infinity” wigs.

Next, he announced that he had rewritten the NFL theme song — which he said he was allowed to do “because my mom died twice on 9/11.”

Santos then broke into the dance as a Latin-influenced NFL theme song began playing.
