Snippets of sour gameplay for the finale

The free-to-play game The Finals, announced at Gamescom last August, shows off a tiny bit of gameplay in a video no doubt edited by a cocaine addict with Parkinson’s disease. As you can see, the players embody a priori Amazon delivery men, of which only the one who deposits the package in the recipient’s mailbox is paid. Since there doesn’t seem to be much sales, the couriers put up a bloody fight for the rare packages, willing to do anything and even destroying buildings, even if it means losing a few potential customers… Well, let’s extrapolate a bit, but it shouldn’t be far off.

The emphasis seems to be on mobility with very fast movement, a grappling hook and some sort of foam cannon like in Prey, allowing for good verticality. A kind of mix between Call of’ and Tintanfall 2 under acids. Above all, however, the destruction impresses. Whole sections of buildings collapse as fighters jump from piece to piece…

The entire video is labeled “pre-alpha footage,” but it still looks a little too good to be real gameplay: the graphics are pristine and the animations are smooth. There may be more to discover in the closed alpha phase, which takes place on September 29th, if you are chosen. If you’re interested, go to the game’s Steam page and click “Request Access”.
