Sidney Magal excluded song from repertoire after receiving photo of dead woman

Directed by Joana Mariani, Me Chama que Eu Vou is a documentary film that portrays the life and work of Sidney Magal. The document premiered in cinemas across Brazil this week.

The ‘Meu Sangue Ferve por Você’ and ‘Sandra Rosa Madalena’ singer will also win a fictional biopic directed by Paulo Machline and a series for Star+, Tempo reports.

Sydney is controversial. Skindeep sensuality and hot, gypsy and Latin American passion like “Love when it does not bleed is not love” have always composed his works, which have become timeless classics today. For example, the song that served as the opening theme of the 1990 soap opera “Rainha da Sucata”, which incidentally gave the documentary its name Me Chama que eu Vou is still successful today.

But it’s not all flowers, the strong name Brega had to do without a song, a smash hit in 1977 If I Grab You With Another I’ll Kill You after a major controversy ensued.

The uproar began after discussions of “violence against women” came to the fore in a violent manner. Previously, the debate on this topic was very subtle and almost never died away.

In a previous interview with Flow Podcast, Sidney said he was given a photo of a woman who had been murdered by her husband and through a montage they had a tape with the name of the song by Magal and the line “Thank you for that Advice, Sydney”.

Magal took the opportunity during the interview to offer some criticism of political correctness, saying that the overthinking patrol is hampering the discussions.
