“She-Hulk: Lawyer”: Tatiana Maslany is green with anger

One Marvel series doesn’t wait for the other, here’s “She-Hulk: Lawyer” arrived on Disney+ on August 18th. Incarnated as Tatiana Maslany, the Hulk’s cousin, Bruce Banner’s alter ego, played by Mark Ruffalo, is humorous.

She-Hulk is Jennifer Walters, cousin of a certain Bruce Banner. She’s a lawyer in town. But as soon as she experiences strong emotions, she turns green. As the leader of a team that leads lawsuits against superheroes, Jennifer Walters is confronted with – to put it mildly – special situations. But beware, no talk of a heavy tone. She-Hulk: Lawyer is lightness and humor in all its forms.

“Each episode has a specific tone,” director and executive producer Kat Coiro said at a news conference attended by QMI Agency. The simple description is that each half-hour episode is a comedy set in a law firm. We borrowed from all genres. Some are cinematic, there’s also action, suspense, etc. And it’s also a series that gives viewers a glimpse into the sometimes very mundane life of a superheroine.

Consisting of nine episodes, She-Hulk: Lawyer follows Jennifer Walters from the accident that turns her into the Hulk to her defense of the Abomination (Tim Roth), Wong (Benedict Wong) is also in the game…shh , Marvel bans spoilers.

“We knew we needed Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. The filmmaker emphasizes in a one-on-one interview that he is the only person who can understand what Jennifer is going through. Everyone else came naturally, with our series taking place in a “superhuman” law firm.

The relationship between Hulk and She-Hulk is explored in a very interesting way, relying on humor and relaxation. “We rehearsed a lot, read the script together several times. However, one thing you can’t pull off is the chemistry between two actors. As soon as I saw Tatiana and Mark together, I saw that they had exactly the brotherly energy that we needed for the series.

“Due to the amount of dialogue, we had to rehearse the scenes between Tatiana and Mark for much longer. We also built platforms that the actors in “Hulk” had to walk on for reasons of proportion. There was really a balance to be found between the technical preparation and the freedom they needed to explore the scenes.

Because of the technology there is. Special effects, Jennifer turning into the Hulk, Abomination, Wong landing… “Marvel Co-President Louis D’Esposito already told me, ‘How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time .” And I really did heed that advice. I broke down each scene by identifying the smallest details to figure out which special effects method worked best for each one.”

Kevin Feige, the big boss of Marvel Studios, has not attended the presentation of one of his series for a very rare time. Should we conclude that women are finally in power in the superhero camp? Laughing, Kat Coiro replied that we shouldn’t jump to conclusions about Feige’s absence. Before we add that “our producer at Marvel, Wendy Jacobson, is a woman and she’s the one who hired us all. Under her direction, the series shows an all-female perspective.

She-Hulk: Lawyer is available August 18 on the Disney+ platform.
