Shari and Lionel married in 1978 after he divorced Jeffrey’s mother.

She never had children of her own, but said that when she married Lionel, she felt an immediate desire to mother Jeffery.

Shari said her impression of Jeffery was that he was a “vulnerable” young man who was “embarrassed and ashamed” that his parents were getting a divorce.

She said he was “very good at hiding his feelings.”

“She’s also been trying to connect with Jeff as his stepmother,” a source told The Sun.

“She was a good stepmother.”

Shari always stood by her husband when his life was turned upside down by revelations that his son had murdered 17 people and even eaten and disemboweled some of his victims.

“Shari was a good woman and without her Lionel would not be the man he is today,” the source said.

“She was with him through everything that happened with Jeff, she was Lionel’s rock through everything.”

The pair appeared together during an interview with Larry King on CNN in 2004.

She and Lionel remained close to Jeffrey during his incarceration, even visiting him regularly.

The source told the Sun that Shari and Lionel have not been able to see much of each other in recent months after their health has deteriorated.

“Lionel hasn’t really been able to visit Shari lately, I think the last time he saw her was in October,” they said.

“There will be no funeral, by Shari’s will she didn’t want a service or anything like that.”

“She just wanted to be cremated and left instructions in her will as to what to do with the ashes.”

Shari was portrayed by Molly Ringwald in the 2022 Netflix show about Jeffrey Dahmer’s life.

Source Shari was not pleased that the show had been made.

“When the series and documentary came out last year, Shari just wished they’d give it the fuck alone, but she used stronger language than that.”

Lionel wasn’t happy with the documentary either, saying he thinks the shows sexualized his son instead of focusing on his mental health.
