The 700 square meter apartment in which Jô Soares has lived since 1992 in Higienópolis, a posh neighborhood in São Paulo, has some special features.

The presenter has turned one of the bathrooms into a barbershop with a typical chair, those old ones with iron footrests. A luxury that made her life easier.

Another unusual environment never ceased to amaze those who visited it. Millions of Brazilian homes have an altar or oratory, but Jô went further: he built a chapel at home.

The space of about 12 meters frame has benches for up to 10 people. There are two crucifixes. A larger one on the wall and a smaller one on the piece of furniture, where there is also a representation of the Holy Spirit and a vase of flowers.

In the same room is a builtin bookshelf with dozens of sacred images. Most of Santa Rita. Some were bought by Jô, others were gifts from friends and fans.

Before the pandemic and health problems, the artist was a frequent visitor to the parish of Santa Rita de Cássia in Pari, in the central region of the capital, São Paulo.

“I’ve been a devotee for so long I can’t even remember when I started,” the presenter once said. When asked if he was afraid of death, he replied that he was not. “The fear of dying is useless, it will happen anyway. My fear is being unproductive.”
