Sanna Marin dances wildly, controversy surrounding Prime Minister of Finland after video

The Finnish Prime Minister drinks and dances in the company of well-known faces of the jet set: the argument ensues. “Sad that private rooms have become public as I haven’t used drugs”

There is controversy over Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin after a video of her drinking, dancing wildly and singing at a party at a friend’s house hit social media.

Following the example of well-known rappers such as Petri Nygard and Antti Tuisku, Marin does not dance alone, but in the company of well-known faces of the Finnish jet set.

According to Iltalehti tabloid, among the guests of the party seen in the video we can recognize: singer Alma, influencer Janita Autio, TV presenter Tinni Wikstroem, YouTuber Ilona Ylikorpi, radio host Karoliina Tuominen, stylist Vesa Silver and MP Ilmari Nurminen from Marin’s Social Democratic Party.

The Prime Minister said she was saddened that “private spaces” had “become public knowledge” and denied taking drugs during the party.

In fact, in the video, we hear someone refer to the “flour gang” during the wild dances – a term associated with cocaine use. “I have no idea why anyone used that phrase and what it’s referring to,” Marin said.

And there are already those who, in view of Marin’s tough positions against Moscow, are pointing the finger at alleged Russian hackers: not only did he – together with the Finnish president – accelerate his country’s accession to NATO, but was recently one of the first Leaders in Europe to advocate a ban on Russian tourism across Europe.

Just two days ago, on August 16, the Finnish government announced that from September 1, the number of visas granted to Russians would be reduced by 90 percent.

“Obviously I won’t comment on where these videos were filmed or who filmed them because they are private rooms,” Marin said, saying she was “sad that they have become public knowledge.”

Marin had previously been criticized for attending a rock festival: in her home country, there were people who accused her of spending more time partying than governing. Although – in this case – many appreciated the informal style.

«Born in 1985», as Paolo Valentino writes here, «Marin’s parents separated from her when she was still an infant. His alcoholic father has only seen him once since then. “If you ask me if I feel like I have a father, my answer is no,” he said in a famous interview with Vogue. “I didn’t grow up with him and I would say I don’t have a father.” Instead, she grew up with her mother and the woman who became his new partner, what Marin likes to call “a rainbow family.” Marin was the first of her family to attend university, where she earned a degree in administration. It was obvious that in 2006, not even twenty-one, Sanna Marin entered politics through the left door, joining the Social Democratic Party, of which she became vice-president in 2010. Her cursus honorum was brilliant: Mayor of Tampere (the country’s third largest city) at 28, Member of Parliament at 29, Minister for Transport and Communications at 33, Prime Minister the following year. Immediately after her appointment, in 2019, the outgoing Home Secretary sneered at her as a “committed”. Marin shrugged, “So what? Most young people who grow up work in a shop or other low-paying jobs to make a living. He then tweeted a post that has already made history: “In Finland, a poor child can study and a former shop assistant can become prime minister.” In this totus politicus, Marin found the time to marry former footballer Markus Räikkönen in 2020, her boyfriend since high school with whom he had a daughter Emma in 2018 ».
