Samsung would abandon the Galaxy FE (Fan Edition) series. The manufacturer does not intend to release an S22 FE together with the Galaxy S22.
Samsung would not intend to release a Galaxy S22 FE on the market this year. Citing “several sources”, SamMobile, the medium specializing in Samsung products, assures that the South Korean group has drawn a line under the FE series.
As a reminder, the Galaxy FE (Fan Edition) series made a remarkable comeback in late 2020. After the disappointing sales of the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, Samsung tried to tempt consumers with this a cheaper editionthe Galaxy S20 FE.
The smartphone has achieved excellent critical and commercial success thanks to its value for money. The brand has therefore done it again with the Galaxy S21 generation. At the beginning of 2022, the manufacturer released a slightly cheaper version of the S21s with the Galaxy S21 FE.
No Galaxy S22 FE in the program
That’s what the media say the alleged codename of the Galaxy S22 FE, namely SM-S900, was not found in the various databases consulted. Everything indicates that the phone simply does not exist. Last June, the clues confirming the arrival of the S21 FE were not lacking, SamMobile points out.
Note that several leaks have nevertheless mentioned the S22 FE in recent months. In April, Business Korea, a South Korean outlet, specifically assured that the Asian version of the smartphone would be powered a Mediatek chip rather than Qualcomm. However, this leak is not enough to prove the existence of the terminal.
Samsung is likely struggling to find a place in its catalog for an edition that’s more affordable than a standard Galaxy S22. In January, the S21 FE surprised everyone with its surprise rate placement. The phone sold at a starting price of €759, just €100 less than the standard S21 when it was released.
It could be Lack of computer chips, which has paralyzed the industry since the health crisis, forced Samsung to change its plans. For the record, the Seoul giant almost canceled the release of the S21 FE due to the difficulties its production lines have encountered.
Back to the wall, the brand finally postponed the market launch by several months. Marketed just a few weeks before the S22, the S21 FE arguably didn’t have the same success as its predecessor.
A new version of the Galaxy S21 FE?
On the other hand, Samsung would intend to launch a new version of the Galaxy S21 FE. According to information from Galaxy Club, the smartphone leader is preparing a weaker version. Instead of the Snapdragon 888 or the Exynos 2100, Samsung would rely on a Snapdragon 720G.
This edition appeared on the website of several European shops. Thanks to this mid-range chip, the manufacturer rreduce the selling price of the S21 FE. This even cheaper version would be marketed in Europe from June 30, 2022.
