Sam Smith was mocked for discussing the craziest rumor they’ve ever heard about themselves – which is that they’re secretly the singer Adele, but in drag.
The 30-year-old star told Drew Barrymore on Monday that the conspiracy theory arose because she and Adele, 34, had never been seen in the same room.
And also, non-binary singer Sam, who uses the pronouns “they/they,” said that if you slow down Adele’s voice, it actually sounds like hers.

The interview comes after Sam wore a long black dress on Thursday’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and discussed changing the lyrics for a recent appearance at the White House.

Sam gushed about meeting Biden, 80, and Vice President Kamala Harris, 58, as Jimmy shared a photo of the non-binary singer posing with the politicians.
