The actress, who played the original Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in Robert Altman’s 1970 film M * A * S * H, has died after a long battle with dementiaconfirmed her son Jack Crane The Hollywood reporter.
She moved to an assisted care facility in Woodland Hills, Californiaafter an iconic career spanning over 150 films and television shows.

Sally Claire Kellerman was born in Long Beach, California on June 2, 1937, to her mother, Edith, a piano teacher, and father, John, CEO of Shell Oil.
Her family moved to the San Fernando Valley and then to La Brea Park, where she attended Hollywood High School.
After participating in the production of Meet Me in St. Louis, she signed a record deal with Verve Records, although she eventually withdrew from the deal because becoming a record artist was too daunting for her at the time.
