Ryan Reynolds said he remembered telling wife Blake Lively how he was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! bought part of a Welsh football team! On ABC.

The 45-year-old actor revealed he’s gotten into the habit of slipping into people’s DMs to tell them he appreciates them, which is how he first came into contact with McElhenney, 45.

These early DMs led to the Comedians buying the Wrexham FC team, something Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively didn’t quite appreciate.

“I remember showing up, seeing Blake and saying, ‘I have bad news and I have really bad news,'” Ryan said. “I slipped into someone’s DMs again. The really bad news is I may have bought half a 5th national football league in Wales.

The 45-year-old actress, who wore a gray herringbone suit with a white shirt and black tie, said her reaction wasn’t good.

“We’re still working on it,” Ryan told Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, who guest-hosted one show.

Reynolds bought Welsh football club Wrexham with Rob in 2020 and has since made a documentary about the experience, which will be released on FX on August 24.

Ryan shared that he originally met Rob simply by slipping into his DMs.

“I just DMed you,” Ryan said.

Rob said he really appreciates becoming one of Ryan’s closest friends.

“You’re the hardest working person I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Rob said.

“Not very often, but this one in particular was life changing,” Ryan said. “That led to us becoming co-owners of Wrexham football club.”

Rob played an excerpt from the documentary showing Rob and Ryan’s first face-to-face meeting.

“It’s so weird seeing you on your zoom without the Disney Princesses filter,” Ryan joked upon seeing it.

Ryan also shared that he wasn’t even a big football fan when he originally bought the club, but that has changed.

Rob shared a clip from one of the team’s recent games at Wembley, where a member of the team manager put the ball into a goal. Rob and Ryan were filmed celebrating what they thought was a goal, not realizing a referee had thrown down an offside flag.

“How humiliating,” Ryan said.

Ryan joked that no one understood the offside rule. Rob said one person did it – David Beckham, who was in the box with them at the game.

Rob said that Ryan is also good at marketing. Ryan said he has an entire marketing company.

“I love it,” Ryan said. “I’ve always loved it. Commercials are like diet storytelling.’

They played a clip of the erectile dysfunction commercial with Kaitlin along with a Rob doppelganger.
