Russia wants to tie up Ukrainian troops in northeast

According to British military experts, Russian attacks on and around the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv are aimed at tying up the defenders’ forces and preventing them from counterattacking. This emerges from the Ministry of Defense’s daily intelligence update in London on Friday.

At least 12 civilians were killed in a rocket attack in Kharkiv on Wednesday, the statement said. Due to its proximity to the front, the metropolis is within range of many Russian weapon systems. “Several rocket launchers and generally inaccurate weapons wreaked havoc in much of the city,” the British experts said.

Since the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine in late February, the British government has regularly published intelligence on its progress. Moscow accuses London of a targeted disinformation campaign.
