In this regard, Lavrov compared Washington’s recent actions to the actions of Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte. The US would also have subjugated Europe to wage war against Moscow. With Ukraine as their proxies, “they are waging war against our country with the same task – the ‘final solution’ of the Russian question,” Lavrov said.
“Just as Hitler wanted a ‘final solution’ to the Jewish question, Western politicians are now saying very clearly that Russia must suffer a strategic defeat.” The “Final Solution” was the Nazi plan for the Holocaust that resulted in the systematic murder of six million Jews and members of other minorities.

According to Lavrov, there are currently no serious peace proposals on the table to end the war. The ideas of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are out of the question. Among other things, the leadership in Kyiv demands the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory and the payment of reparations for the destruction caused by the Russian military.
Russia has repeatedly made it clear that Moscow believes a peace treaty can only be concluded if Ukraine recognizes the annexations of the Crimean peninsula on the Black Sea and the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. Kyiv categorically rejects this.
