LONDON – Russia’s communications watchdog on Sunday urged Russian media not to report an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying it had launched an investigation into outlets that interviewed the Ukrainian leader.

In a brief statement shared by the regulator on social media and published on its website, Zelenskyy was interviewed by a variety of Russian media outlets.

“Roskomnadzor warns the Russian media about the need not to publish this interview,” it said. He did not give a reason for his warning.

Russian prosecutors said a legal opinion is being prepared on the statements made in the interview and on the legality of publishing the interview.

Zelenskyj spoke to several Russian publications.
