Russell Crowe announces major deal between Queensland and the AACTA Awards

Russell Crowe couldn’t help but smile as he spoke at the announcement of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Arriving at the Burleigh Pavilion, the AACTA President, 58, dressed in his signature all-black ensemble, had his eyes behind dark aviator shades.

Regardless of the Queensland heat, he donned black jeans and a black polo shirt while accessorizing with a silver designer watch.

Reading glasses were discovered in his hand as he got out of the car in preparation for his presentation.

He quickly painted a big smile as he entered the venue with his dark locks stylishly slicked back and a pair of black trainers on his feet.

The New Zealand actor mingled happily with the other attendees and was once seen thoughtfully stroking his trimmed beard.

After the performance concluded, the award-winning actor was called to the podium to speak on behalf of the AACTA Awards.

The 2024 ceremony will be held for the first time outside of Sydney on a three-year Gold Coast deal after QLD poached the awards from NSW, the Brisbane Times reported.

“This is going to be an event that will really shake things up and people will have a lot of fun in our industry – and in this state,” Crowe said at the announcement.

When he finished his speech, Crowe posed for photos against the breathtaking view of Burleigh’s clear beach, which the pavilion overlooked.

He ended his performance by speaking to the media about the amazing deal between the QLD film industry and AACTA.

It comes just days after Crowe demonstrated talent in his family when he took the stage at The Hoey Moey Pub in Coffs Harbor with his son Charles.
