TV weatherman Steve Jacobs’ ex-wife told police she was unwell and “going through a lot at the moment” when she stopped in Sydney driving her Audi Q3 with a suspended license.
Rosie Jacobs was allegedly caught driving while her license was suspended three times in three months – including twice in four days.
The 43-year-old travel journalist recently celebrated a year of sobriety after a well-documented battle with alcohol, but her troubles appear far from over.
Jacobs was behind the wheel of her white SUV in downtown Darlinghurst on August 25 when police determined she was not supposed to be on the road.

The single mother-of-two had previously been denied a driver’s license in August 2021 but she was allowed to drive under “conditions of good behavior” which were granted until August last year.
“Since the application and granting of the code of conduct [Jacobs] committed five traffic offenses and subsequently voided their good behavior conditions,” the court documents said.
Her license was then suspended from May 13, 2022 to March 12, 2023 due to an accumulation of demerit points for multiple misdemeanors.
Jacobs told police who questioned her in Darlinghurst that she was unaware that her license had been revoked.
‘[Jacobs] informed that she has not recently moved, although she has not recently checked her mailbox to see if she received any notification of the suspension,” the court documents said.

On November 25, Jacobs was again driving the Audi on Campbell Parade on Bondi Beach, near her home, when an automated number plate check alerted police to her driver’s license status.
She was stopped by a Highway Patrol officer on Queen Elizabeth Drive and produced a digital copy of her blocked permit.
‘Police warned [Jacobs] and said that [Jacobs] was stopped by other police officers on August 25, to which she nodded,” the court documents said. “The defendant just said, ‘I’d rather not comment.’
Jacobs was then issued a second court attendance notice for driving while suspended.
“In serving the notice to the defendant, she said, ‘I’m going through a lot right now’ and ‘I’m not feeling well,'” the court documents said.

“The defendant appeared to be going through a period of illness and family trauma and was distraught at being stopped for the offence.”
Four days later, on the night of November 29, Jacobs was pulled over in Randwick and charged with a third charge of driving with a suspended license.
She has pleaded guilty to the first two offenses and is due to be sentenced on all three counts this week in Downing Center Local Court.
The case was previously adjourned so Jacobs could attend a traffic offender program.

The couple split in late 2017, months after moving to Vanuatu in what friends described as a “last-ditch effort” to save their marriage, and divorced in 2019.
