Rose Ayling-Ellis FINISHES EastEnders: The show’s first deaf actress confirms she will be saying goodbye as Frankie Lewis following her strict win and says her exit story will be an ‘important’ one.

Rose Ayling-Ellis will step down as Frankie Lewis on EastEnders later this year, having joined the show back in 2020.

Rose was the first deaf actor to play a regular deaf character in EastEnders and has been part of a number of major storylines including discovering she is Mick’s daughter after he was abused as a child.

The actress will be stepping out this fall and has already filmed her final scenes.

Rose said: “It was incredibly special to be EastEnders’ first regular deaf actor. I loved my time on the show and Frankie was such an amazing character, but now it feels like the right time for me to move on and I’m excited and ready for new challenges.

“I will always cherish my time on the show and all the incredible people I’ve worked with who have supported my growth as an actor over the past two years and brought me so many amazing memories.

“I’m excited for viewers to see Frankie’s exit storyline; I think it’s a really important one that will hit a lot of people.

It was first reported that Rose could be leaving the show following her Strictly win in December.

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: “I have only had the pleasure of working with Rose for a short time but she has always been an incredible asset to EastEnders; not only as a phenomenal actor but also as an amazing company member.

“As part of the Carter family, Rose has excelled in important narratives such as discovering she is Mick Carter’s daughter as a result of child abuse; and she will soon address the important issue that highlights the safety of women on the street.

“We at EastEnders are incredibly proud of everything Rose has achieved – she is a true trailblazer and we wish her every success.”

The actress was rumored to have left the BBC1 soap last December shortly after winning season 19 of Strictly Come Dancing with Giovanni Pernice.
