Latest comments from Rosario Dawson The rumors that a reboot of The Punisher takes place on Disney+. Dawson, who originally starred in her role as Claire Temple on Marvel’s Daredevil, reprized her role on most other Defenders-verse shows such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Curiously, she didn’t have a single appearance in The Punisher, making the Jon Bernthal-led series the only one of the Marvel shows on Netflix not to have a Claire appearance.
Speaking about her role as Claire Temple at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, Dawson may have missed that The Punisher will be revisited after it was revealed that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio would be cast in the reboot series Daredevil: Born Again will return. In a video shared on Twitter by @QboweTakes, Dawson seems to casually say that Marvel is “making an appearance again” in The Punisher, giving her hope that she finally gets a chance to bring Claire into a Punisher series after missing out on that opportunity on Netflix. As Dawson says:

“I found out yesterday that The Punisher is happening again so I feel like it’s my second chance because it was the only one of the shows I haven’t been to and I love Jon Bernthal. So let’s all do it together boys!”

Marvel StudiosThis isn’t exactly an official revival, although it seems to be the most promising sign yet that The Punisher will be getting a revival. Jon Bernthal has never confirmed this, although he has teased in the past that he hopes to reprise the role. However, his only stipulation to the return would be that his version of Frank Castle not be diluted, as some fans thought might happen with the show’s possible revival on Disney+ following Netflix’s move.
“So I was really grateful, respectful, and tired of the places this role has taken me and the world I’ve had to live in,” Bernthal said, via . “Besides, that character has to be there. It has to be a level of darkness. I think if it wears off on this character, you’re doing the character, every iteration of the character, every comic that’s come out before it, a disservice, and all of the incredible fans of that character. This character means so much to the people in the military. Like I said, it’s not about whether you play the character, it’s whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”
At this point, The Punisher will stream on Disney+ along with the other Marvel shows previously seen on Netflix. R-rated Marvel movies like Logan and Deadpool are also streamed on the platform. That makes it more likely that a new version of The Punisher will keep its lead in the way Jon Bernthal would like it to. Hopefully there will be an official announcement soon if this new tease from Rosario Dawson turns out to be true.
