UFC star Conor McGregor said he was hit by a car while cycling, then posted and then removed a photo and videos of the aftermath of the incident. He did not appear to be injured and the driver who hit him ended up picking him up.
McGregor, 34, the biggest mixed martial artist in the world, regularly rides his bike during training.
“He frigging creamed me from behind,” McGregor said in a now-deleted video posted to Instagram on Friday. “He said he couldn’t see me because of the sun.”
McGregor then says, “It’s alright, alright,” as the driver of a Ford Mondeo comes by and says he’s “so sorry, seriously.”
“I could have been dead there,” McGregor says elsewhere in the video.
“I’m so sorry,” says the driver. McGregor also revealed a large tear in his pants but otherwise appeared unharmed from being shaken.

In another video, now deleted, McGregor can be seen in the same car with his bike in the back, being wheeled away from the scene.
“I just got slammed from behind by a car,” McGregor wrote on the Instagram post. “A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full throttle right through me. Thank god it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo too. Having awareness on landing saved my life.”
It’s not the first time McGregor has been in the news for non-MMA reasons in the past year, or even the past week, with reports Tuesday that a woman accused McGregor of assaulting her on his yacht in July, allegations which he denies.
In March, McGregor was arrested for dangerous driving. Police also confiscated his Bentley Continental. He was released on bail and the Continental was later returned to him with the case pending.
