Richard Gere, 73, is recovering after being hospitalized for pneumonia during the family’s trip to Mexico to celebrate his wife’s 40th birthday

Richard Gere, 73, was reportedly hospitalized with pneumonia this week during his family trip to Mexico to celebrate his wife Alejandra Silva’s 40th birthday.
TMZ reports that the actor was diagnosed with the lung infection after being admitted to a hospital near their vacation home in Nuevo Vallarta.
Gere is said to have been suffering from a cough before the trip, which reportedly saw his health deteriorate so badly that he felt the need to see a doctor.
The “Officer and a Gentleman” star is said to have spent the night in hospital being treated for his illness.
Gere has since been released from the facility and his health is improving, according to outlet sources.

He was reportedly given antibiotics to continue his treatment while he recovered from the infection outside of hospital.
Silva, a Spanish publicist and longtime friend of Gere’s family, married him in 2018 at his massive ranch in upstate New York.
Since then, the couple have given birth to two sons together – Alexander, four, and a two-year-old, whose name has not been released.
Both children accompanied the couple on their recent trip to Mexico, during which Silva revealed all four had recently been ill.
She wrote on Instagram on Thursday: “Thank you all for the birthday wishes… after almost 3 weeks of being ill today for everyone in our family I’m finally feeling a lot better! thanks for all the love [heart] I give you everything back!’
Prior to his relationship with Silva, Gere was married to 1990s supermodel Cindy Crawford and Bond girl Carey Lowell.
Gere and Lowell were married from 2002 to 2016 and have a son together named Homer, 23, who is named after the Pretty Woman star’s father.
When they began their romance in 2015, Gere and Silva were both in the process of divorcing their previous spouses.
