Ricardo was present during the show true natureled by the great Jean-Philippe Dion and this resulted in very touching moments.
Indeed, the famous chef spoke about several periods of his life and in particular the bullying he suffered as a child Burn out and her relationship with her children.
In his youth, Ricardo was indeed a victim of bullying, from kindergarten through 3rd secondary school, where he decided to change things and get the upper hand on his bullies before tragedy struck.
“Secondary level 3, I said: It’s enough, or I’ll kill someone, or I’ll kill myself, but something has to happen,” he counted on this youth, which visibly shaped him.
Ricardo also explains that he left home at the age of 18 because he didn’t want to look like his father and the atmosphere at home was difficult.
“My father ran all the time. He had drinking problems and was always going out. There were a lot of tears,” the chef delivered.
A little later in the show, Ricardo also confided in a time when his children admitted they didn’t find him very present in their lives, which ties into his significant professional success.
“Being good has its price, there was an end to the family (…) the children have already told us: It’s great Pa, your speech (about) the family (that) eats together, but you’re not there . You’re in Africa, you’re everywhere, but you’re not there (…) When your little one says to you: Pa, I need you, but you don’t listen to me…” admitted Ricardo, touched.
The chef has also had a tough time during the pandemic, leading to this Burn outamong other things, because he had accumulated a lot in his 21-year career.
“I was like I was burned out, I was tired (…)”, explains the star.
“What were the signs that you were no longer feeling well?” asks Jean-Philippe Dion.
“When you have no taste, you have no spirit. Your heart is often in your throat. When your deep nature is gone!” Ricardo specifies.
He therefore decided to take a break from work and consult a professional.
