A study conducted by RankMyApp pointed out which streaming applications were most downloaded from Google Play by Brazilians, and unsurprisingly, Netflix was the platform of choice for consumers, averaging almost 1.1 million downloads per month and around 11 million in the cumulative ten months, which is 59% of the total. The analysis considers data from January to October 2022.

Next in the ranking is Amazon Prime Video, averaging 335,000 downloads out of a total of 3.3 million, which is 18% of the total. Then comes Disney+ with 13% of the total (236,000 average downloads and 2.6 million cumulative), HBO Max with 8% of the total (147,000 average downloads and 1.4 million cumulative), and Paramount+ with 2% (35,000 average downloads and 287,000 total). ).

“In the analyzed period, we observed an isolated dominance of Netflix over other streaming applications. We’re also seeing periods of fierce competition between Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and Disney+, although most of the time Amazon Prime Video is the leader among the three, followed by Disney+ and HBO Max, respectively. In terms of regions, Netflix was most in demand in the Midwest, specifically the state of Goiás, and least in demand in the Northeast, with Piauí showing the lowest score. Prime Video had a larger presence in the South and Southeast, with Paraná detectable, but underperformed in the North and Pará in last place.

Disney+ had a strong search presence in the Southeast and parts of the South and Northeast, with Rio de Janeiro being the strongest and Piauí being the state with the fewest searches. And the Paramount+ app is very strong in the Southeast and parts of the Northeast and weak in the North, with the best results in São Paulo and the worst in Acre.

“Search queries are well distributed across all federal states, streams have different patterns in relation to their own search queries,” emphasizes RankMyApp. “It’s important to highlight Netflix’s homogeneity, as the state with the lowest search scores scores 85 on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the highest search state. For Amazon Prime Video, the state number with the lowest search is 65, for Disney+ and HBO Max it’s 60, and Paramount+ has the largest difference with the lowest search of 50,” the report reads.

The study also pointed out that Netflix is ​​among the most downloaded apps in the entertainment genre, ranking fourth in October. Disney+ was sixth, HBO Max seventh, and Prime Video 12th. On the positive side, Paramount+ has improved the most in the ranking, from 42nd to 33rd place.

The apps these consumers interact with the most include: Instagram; Whatsapp; free market; buyer; youtube; tick tock; Facebook; and subway surfers.

“It’s important to note that in the entertainment category of the Google Play Store, we have free apps like MegaFlix, TubiTV, and YouTube itself competing for the top spots with the apps analyzed in this study,” concludes RankMyApp in its analysis.
