At least 16 people died in a serious traffic accident in southern Turkey. According to official information, a bus entered the scene of the accident. Among the dead are rescue teams, firefighters and journalists.
At least 16 people died in a multi-vehicle accident in Turkey. 22 people were injured. According to the governor of Gaziantep province, Davut Gül, firefighters, doctors and two journalists were among the dead.
Rescue teams and apparently also journalists wanted to help in an accident when an oncoming bus overturned and crashed into an ambulance and a broadcast van.
The accident happened on the road between Gaziantep and Nizip in southeastern Turkey. TV footage showed the bus lying on its side, a badly damaged ambulance and various wreckage. According to the government, around 5,400 people died in traffic accidents in Turkey last year.
