A refugee who was in a relationship with an Englishman who had left his wife and daughters to live with her, she said will return to Ukraine after being left by him. Tony and Lorna Garnett welcomed Sofia to Bradford, England in May as part of a war refugee housing programme. After her release, she returned to her home address, but Tony wouldn’t let her back into the house. Witnesses said Sofiia kicked open the door and yelled: “Tony, I love you!” She was arrested again. After her release, the Ukrainian came to a public animal shelter.
“I’m not heartless. I’m sorry for her. But relationships end and this one is over.”commented Tony, who is a security guard but unemployed. “Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. She will be much better off in Ukraine or if she gets a new relationship, good luck to her.”he added.
Tony told Sofia that her mother Katerina also wanted her to return to Ukraine.
“In love, everyone has their own destiny. At first we weren’t happy, but she said she loved him and that this was a serious relationship. But she ended. We want her to come home.”Katerina said according to Tony.
Sofia had already revealed that she fled Ukraine because of the war and a violent relationship. According to him, his jaw was broken by an ex.
